A pet shelter. My 2 chihuahas were $200 from my city's SPCA.

You should check and see if there is a shelter in your area. The Humane Society is a great place to find them and the adoption fee is usually less than going to a breeder or pet store.

Look up ajc.com or somewhere not in New York so prices aren't so jacked up. Pretty and good blooded chihuahuas are everywhere. A good breeder might meet you somewhere.

Yeah right- you can't get a Chi ANYWHERE for under $1,000, and if you do, it's because it's either not purebred or it's from some idiot breeding dogs irresponsibly in his backyard to sell for cash. If you don't want to pay for a quality purebred, adopt a dog. But don't forget, what you pay for the dog isn't the start of the money you'll pay in food, vet bills, medicines, heartworm and flea preventatives, licenses, etc. A dog costs thousands of dollars a year. Make sure you can afford to properly care for a dog before you get one.

Please adopt a dog from an Animal Shelter (they are often abandoned because the human did not understand the responsibility of caring for a dog.)
Go to the ASPCA/SPCA, they sometimes have pure breed dogs, that are given up by their human, you may get lucky and find a Chi.)

its too bad that some people think they OWN the pet section of yahoo answers.....Get a life!!!This person asked a great question and people are trying to give good answers,,how could you people rate ANY of these answers as bad answsers???Get past yourselves!!If you were truly so knowledgeable about this stuff you would be at work as a vet right now making big money,instead of playing on the computer and puttin people who are just trying to help down....you should all be ashamed!!!!!!

Your best bet is an animal shelter. The puppy, petite site listed I think their dogs are in the thousands!!! It is now called Petite Pets, and it is a pet store. Pretty sure it is the same one mentioned in another post/
