I am going this weekend to my grandparents cabin in Swains Creek, Utah. According to Utah's gun laws, is it legal to fire my rifle not at a gun range, but at targets in the forest? I know in some states its legal as long as you are a certain distance from people or a road. What are the rules for Utah?

national forest land is open for public use. You can fire your rifle there but, you need to be certain it is a safe area to do so, that you pick up any litter or targets you bring in, and that you don't damage trees etc. Just use common sense. Also, make sure you have a parent along if you are a minor just to avoid trouble.
