It is utter nonsense, that people in this day and age still agree with that line of reasoning.

Are they saying that anything that is behavioral is a choice? Like for instance you chose to be an introvert or an extrovert, you chose to have an interest in music or the arts, you chose to be of average intelligence, etc..

Some of the answers really disturb me. I wonder if there is hope for the human civilization in the next millennium.

princezelph, I don't understand how you can say that being introvert or extrovert is a choice? Sure you may choose in certain moments to be social or not, but deep down you fall back to a certain comfort level which is naturally inherent to you. Haven't you ever heard of the saying that it's easy to be yourself, and it takes work to be someone else?

In some people it is not a choice that is OK, but in many it is just "desire", which makes it a sin.

Edit:

I am amazed at the heart of man: It possesses the substance of wisdom as well as the opposites contrary to it ... for if hope arises in it, it is brought low by covetousness: and if covetousness is aroused in it, greed destroys it. If despair possesses it, self piety kills it: and if it is seized by anger, this is intensified by rage. If it is blessed with contentment, then it forgets to be careful; and if it is filled with fear, then it becomes preoccupied with being cautious. If it feels secure , then it is overcome by vain hopes; and if it is given wealth, then its independence makes it extravagant. If want strikes it, then it is smitten by anxiety. If it is weakened by hunger, then it gives way to exhaustion; and if it goes too far in satisfying its appetites, then its inner becomes clogged up. So all its shortcomings are harmful to it, and all its excesses corrupt it.

For those whose sexuality is on the extreme ends of the human sexuality spectrum (hetero to homo), it is perhaps true that it is not a choice, but an innate tendency. But for those who are somewhere toward the middle from either end, this is probably true. That said, so what? Whether it is a choice or not should not bear any relevance in how we treat our fellow humans, nor should we be badgered to demonize those whose sexuality is expressed differently than our own.

Some people are very ignorant and hate to say it but things will never change. No matter how much we try to educate our children some where down the line they will be misinformed. I'm sick of people hating on anyone. I believe the Lord made us just the way he wanted us, with flaws and all. So what if someone is homosexual, why does that offend anyone. If you don't like it, turn the other cheek and leave them alone. I've never minded homosexuals, and my best friend is gay and I love him to death. It's a happier world with them here.

It is in some cases. If you're fat, have acne and need sexual relief from someone else and girls won't provide you'll find someone or something that will.

THEN it is choice.

AND one GIRL I knew who was into the male homosexual thing told me (and I believe her) that there is NO SUCH THING AS A MALE HOMOSEXUAL, all are potentiall BI

EVERY GAY GUY eventually HIT UP ON HER with lines like

"I want to see what it's like to do it with a girl!"

Homosexuality, 98% of the time, is all about SEX and nothing else

You'll RARELY find an ASEXUAL homosexual.

The amount of ASEXUAL heteros is astonishing

Yes, there are 40 year old virgins and 99.9% of the time they are HETERO not HOMO

Homosexuality, 98% of the time, is ALL ABOUT GRATIFICATION

It's the alternative to using a prostitute

The role of hormones - the androgen/estrogen balance - has not been aired in the popular press since liberals get mad because it denies that gays are pursuing a preference when in fact it's innate; meanwhile conservatives get mad because if it's hormones they can't consider it bad behavior. So the media just avoids it.

i dont think that in all cases, for example a friend of mine was born with female organs(uterus, ovaries, etc) and then a penis , her mother choice to make her female, she grew up to like women her fault i think not. but i do know some people who are married and love their spouse but like to dabble int he opposite sex on the side. i think that is more about sex then anything.....i think some people just were simply born that way and others choose to go both ways for sexual reasons not for gay or lesbian ones

Hmm... Am just writing a paper about personality traits and political affiliation (liberal vs. conservative), and see lots of info you might enjoy! Maybe the following quotes will be fun and familiar (especially the last line):

"The 'ideal' conservative is seen as a person who tends to have a fundamentalist religious orientation and whose political leanings are likely to be pro-establishment and supportive of the status quo; who tends to insist upon strict rules and punishments; who is likely to favor militarism; who tends to be ethnocentric and intolerant of minority groups; who tends to prefer what is conventional, traditional, and familiar; who is likely to be anti-hedonistic in outlook and to favor restriction of sexual behavior; who tends to oppose scientific progress and 'new-fangled' ideas; and who is likely to be fatalistic and superstitious... [conservatism is] associated with a more extreme emphasis upon values concerning salvation, security, cleanliness, and obedience, and a less extreme emphasis upon values concerning equality, freedom, pleasure, love, and modes of conduct that involve acting and thinking in broadminded, imaginative, intellectual, and logical ways."

Why do people still believe homosexuality a choice?
Because they choose to believe that and to ignore reality.

Funny how they pretend to know better and more about the subject of gay sexual orientation than gay people themselves and the medical establishment combined, what personal research have these people done I wonder?

Celibacy or heterosexual acts are not viable alternatives for a gay person...

Homosexuality is not a behavior. It is a way of life a sexual preference. You do get to choose.

being introvert or extrovert is also a choice. Every thing is a choice. there are some talents that we bring with us when we come to earth.

Some people still think the Earth is flat. Not all people are educated, and some willingly refuse to accept anything that does not agree with what they already think. Human arrogance.
