The world is full of willing people; some willing to work, the rest willing to let them.---LOL

A Romans letter says

fasting doesnt just consist of your a b c d e but also fast without eating or drinking just like jesus did for 40 days and 40 nights om not sayng you fast for that long even a day of not eating or drinking god will appreciate it if done right but the main reason for fasting is that you have something in your heart you want god to answer thats why you do it well in my religion that is
but i do agree we should be ridding ourselves of everything weighing us down

The bible instructs that in the last days men will be ever learning and never come to a knowledge of truth. Paul instructed Timothy to study to show himself approved. A workman that need not be ashamed, RIGHTLY dividing (teaching) the word of truth.

What we have here is a very unamusing pun. The "weight" Paul spoke of in the portion of scripture you wrote meant "sin." The thoughts and acts that weigh us down spiritually. Like this post.

God bless you with wisdom, understanding, and a sense of humor that won't risk your growth in the faith or that of others.

Thanks for the reminder. I'm fat myself. I eat 24/7. 8^D

There are biblical ways to lose excesses that we do not need in our daily walk with God. This takes much discipline and hard work to see the reward at the end.

So, yes we do need to cut the carnal fat out of our lives to pursue holiness.

Not sure what you mean exactly. But it is true that people are suffering out there thanks to religion. It's one thing to have faith, it's a whole nother story entirely to be religious.
