Yes, it is bad...you should not reuse plastic bottles and you should not freeze your water in plastic either...also, when you microwave any food, you should use a traditional pyrex or glass dish, no plastic and do not cover the food with plastic wrap...use another dish, paper towel or leave it uncovered...(it might splatter or get dry, a drawback but healthier)...also, I just found out that for women especially, you should not leave your water bottle in your car, let it get warm and then drink it later.....all these wrong uses of plastic have been proven to be a cause of cancer because the chemicals drip from the plastic and into the food...I have totally changed my ways that I use plastic and I just wish I knew this alot sooner.....

It's a myth, and theres a farce going around via email about a cancer scare due to the chemicals in the plastic, but it is not true. It is ok to reause plastic water bottles, it is also okay to freeze them and use them again. Check out snopes.com or truthorfiction.com for rumors like this.

If you are allowed to reuse plastic cups and dishes, I don't see how a water bottle is any different. As long as it's clean, I say go for it!

They say its bad because most people that reuse them do not wash them out properly between uses and keep refilling them and that leads to bacteria forming on the lip and the plastic is not meant to be reused many times

I heard it was bad too, I couldn't remember why so I looked it up for you. I don't think I'll ever fill a water bottle up again.

I believe it is because with extended use the chemicals from the plastic get into the water.

You can re-use it! Just be sure to give the bottle, including the threads and cap a good wash every day. Otherwise you could get a bad buildup of bacteria growing.
Good on you for re-using! :) Way better than just re-cycling.

I do it all the time, I have never heard of that. I mean, if you use it again and again, you may want to clean the backwash out of it once in a while, but no, I think it's fine
