Is it safe to travel there? Little worried, leaving in a week, my fiance is especially worried!!
We are traveling in a large group!

Mazel Tov!
Our congregation just returned from two weeks in Israel. Fantastic trip. Israeli tour guides can't be beat! They want tourists and will do everything in their power to give you the trip of a lifetime. The violence you read about is not happening in the areas you'll be visiting.
Bon voyage!
P.S. If you visit the U.S., you'll want to avoid many cities where random shootings occur on a daily basis. Sorry. We don't issue travel advisories for our cities.

Guided tours arethe safest way to travel in Israel. Your guides know the area and won't take you anywhere where it is dangerous.
Compared to this the danger for an independent traveller is greater - he or she will likely not understand Hebrew, thus won't know about any dangers. The security situation in Israel has the habit of changing every day - it is a very good idea to have a local guide.

You have nothing to worry about it is the most beautiful country and is very safe the media are the ones that portray Israel as being a country that has suicide bombers on every street corner. If you are on a tour there will be much security where you go. The places where you should worry about would be clubs or crowded areas.

Yes, it's safe, especially if you are in a large group. It is extremely unlikely for anything to happen where the typical tours go, and your guides will be aware of any particular alerts that are circulating, and would not take you if they thought it was dangerous. (It's very bad business when tourists get blown up. Ask the Egyptians.)
You will not go anywhere near Gaza, which is where most of the violence in the region is currently going on.

congrats on going. Israel is very safe place to visit just be careful of not going to any parts of gaza strip. Ask around most speak english well. I would suggest going with a controlled tour to see the wonderful sites. Enjoy the mother land.

If your going in a guided tour then you have nothing to worry about.
They will make sure to point out the areas which are safe and which you should not go.

Nothing to worry about, as long as you stay out of Gaza and the environs. Israel is completely safe. Have a fun trip.

Stay on your fake guided tour and you will be safe.
Tourism is one of Israel's main sources of income. The largest group of visitors are American Jews. But, there are also many American Christians who want to visit the holy shrines and to see the land of 'God's Chosen People'.
These Christians come away very impressed and filled with religious fervor.
While in Israel, Jews and Gentiles alike are carefully watched so that they do not stray and happen to see the sordid side of Israel -- the true Israel.
Like in Soviet Russia and other communist countries, visitors to Israel are taken on carefully planned guided tours. They are shown the religious sites, the universities, the lush orchards, the technical accomplishments, the arts, and to stir sympathy, they are taken to visit the Holocaust Museum. But, kept from the eyes of the tourists are the ghettos, the prisons where political prisoners, mostly Arabs and Sephardic Jews, are subjected to the most inhumane forms of torture. The tourists do not see the widespread crime activities and the corruption and cooperation between organized crime bosses and government and police officials.

My daughter just landed in Israel a few hours ago. She is there for 5 weeks. I would not let her go if I felt it was too dangerous. I wish I could get off work and join her!

Given the news we're seeing from the States, I'd say it's much safer in Israel than in the U.S.A.
