Ok, if you truly have a phone harrassment problem, sure......call block will work IF the person calls you from THAT number. Now, if you want to really do something about it, what you have to do is look in your telephone directory and find the section that tells you about harrassing phone calls. In that section, it has a number for the department at the telephone company that will instruct you on what to do whenever you receive these annoyance calls. It IS against the law to repeatedly make annoyance phone calls and you will be instructed to write down the date and time of each and every phone call you receive after the telephone company gets everything "set up" for you. You will be instructed to call the phone company at certain times to give them the exact times of these phone calls and the phone company will take it from there. You don't have to call the police, the telephone company uses the law against making these calls to stop the person making the calls. All you have to do is do exactly what the telephone company tells you to do and keep perfect records. Doing this will enable the telephone company to prosecute this person and there will be phone records to prove their case. This is the best way to handle this situation, trust me. You can block a number, you can use caller ID to identify the caller, etc etc, all those services offered by the telephone company BUT none of them will stop the person from calling you if they WANT to call you. A legal threat from the telephone company is the only option that truly will stop the calling if for no other reason, if the person does NOT stop, they WILL be prosecuted and go to jail. Hope this helps!!!

The Police are not fooled by anything. You would receive a squad car at your house within 5 minutes and potentially a fine if you carried out the prank. I believe most household lines receive a blocked call if you do *69.

Yes, You can call your phone company and see exactly what they can put on your phone in order catch one. I actually called my phone company and paid for a service that would block that person from calling me. The guy would call me from different phones. I also called the police when he left a message, before I got the service.

*69 will tell you the number of the last person you called. *67 will block your number if you try to call someone else. Your phone company may be different, so call them to find out for sure.

*57 after the phone is hung up, after receiving a harassing, threatening, or otherwise illegal phone call...
this will make a record of the incoming phone call a the phone company's office, which can be subpoenaed by law enforcement for legal purposes...

you may have to pay a fee for *57 (number trace) and you will need to contact your local police and file a report for any action to be taken...

if you call *69 after the person calls it will tell you their phone number unless they blocked the call. i don't think the police can tell you who called unless they are tracking your telephone line for some reason.

Most prank callers withhold their number so hitting the caller ID number won't help. They normally go away if you give them as good as you get or tell them that you are prepared to stay on the phone all day with them cos they are paying the bill.
