Cleanings aren't that bad, really! I've had one over a year ago and I wasn't scared at all, though I was terrified of the dentist. They let me pick the flavor of the toothpaste, I chose bubble gum, and it didn't hurt at all, though I felt some pressure on a baby tooth that should have come out already and had the permanent tooth growing in above it. That was the only part that scared me. It just feels like one of those toothbrushes that you press a button on and it spins really fast going along my teeth. They didn't use anything pointy or painful, not that I recall. Relax, it'll be fine!=)

I know how you feel! Uh I am sorry but I dont think there is anything you can do, except for try not to think about it maybe and just take slow breaths when you get in there. I had several bad experiences with dentists and I was actually shaking for a cleaning! Last year when I was 18 I got a good dentist and now I am not as scared... Good Luck!!! : ) Youll be fine

Here's the least standard answer, but possibly a lifesaver-- many dentist are trained in hypnosis (we see them at annual hypnosis seminars where out of 300 participants, >50% are dentists) to address people who are needle phobic or are unable to take the nerve dampening chemicals. Another option is to request to be placed under using "gas"... takes about 30 seconds and you'll feel nothing and yet be awake and alert, but pain and panic free (you'll also laugh a lot!).

Don't worry about it. Are you always scared? Or is this something else. Just take some deep breaths. The dentist wont hurt you. if you were getting braces than you should worry but its just a cleaning. The only time that they use pokey things is when their counting your teeth.

Just tell the dentist you are super scared and they will medicate you to calm you down.
Also remind yourself about how many millions of people go to the dentist and have survived.
