If what you mean is the starter engages and the engine will not turn over then it is the Bendix spring in the starter, it is not engaging the flywheel. Pull the starter install a new bendix spring and it will be fine. If the starter in turning over the engine then it is either electrical, or fuel.

It sounds like the lock actuator may have broken. The key turns, the lights on the dash come on, but when you keep turning the key it does nothing more and feels odd??
If this is what the truck is doing please post an update with some more info, like year???
It's the lock actuator then for sure. It's kinda shaped like a horseshoe, and connects the lock cylinder to the actual ignition swicth. To change it, the steering wheel and the turn signal plate must come out, and the upper half of the tilt mechanism removed by taking out the pivots on each side. Then you can get to the lock actuator. If need more detailed instructions just yell, as I've changed well over 100 of them!

typical ford problem, they're known for this, if you want to rig it you can bypass the ignition with a high current relay and a momentary switch or the safer way would be to goto the junk yard and get another switch, the usually have a 7mm bolt that holds the harness to the ignition switch, unbolt the harness, replace ignition switch and then reinstall. don't forget to take the ignition to a locksmith to get a key made if you ccan't find one with a key.
