Because by denying Christ's deity, Islam fails the 1 John 4 test:
1John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that [spirit] of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
"Gabriel" (whoever the spirit that revealed the quran to muhammad) didn't reveal the quran to muhammad because he wanted to bring us closer to God, but rather to make things easier for the anti-christ. In terms of eternity, you do not want to become a muslim.

Be careful, many of the Christians who answer your question may be partial, and give you information on Islam that is misleading, false, or inaccurate, and learned only from their television.
Please read my answer to a question that concerned Islam and certain problems, I strongly recommend you do. It might not make sense right away because it is answering another question, but it will. And if you're one of those people who cant stand long answers, at least just watch the video on the bottom. I would appreciate that. Well, here goes:
Attacking non-believers is AGAINST Islam. The Media has influenced so many peoples thoughts on Islam through lies about it. The only way justifying attacking these non-believers is if they fight the Muslims first. And they are, so why when non-Muslim kills a Muslim, he is considered a hero, but when a Muslim kills a non-Muslim, he is considered a terrorist? Why is there a double standard when it comes to Christianity and Islam?
When Christian's get drunk, have premarital sex, do drugs, steal, etc., and the vast majority do/have done at least one of them. Muslims don't point anything out. However, when a Muslim does just one of these things, he is imediately labeled and judged and seen as a proper authority to represent his religion. Why must non-Muslims judge so quickly and be so quick to jump to conclusions?
The Western Media has caused the west to believe in their point of view, and only giving one side of the story blinds the people viewing: that is almost everybody. The Media has forced its viewers to believe that Islam is a violent, bloody, intolerant religion, but in reality this is actually the opposite. If people would stop accepting their television sets as their teachers, more people would know the actual truth about Islam. The Media reports misleading stories, gross exaggerations, inaccurate information, and false statements about Islams and Muslims to undermine the religion, and unfortunately, this propaganda is a success--many many Americans believe everything they hear on the news or read in the newspaper. What they fail to realize is that what they read/hear is only one point of view of a bias Media that has been criticizing Muslims with false information vigorously since 9/11.
Terrorism is CONDEMNED in Islam; it is not allowed. Neither is innocent murder, or forced conversions. These are all misleading fabrications composed by the Media. You can't always believe what you hear.
Terrorists are not true Muslims; they use Islam as a mask to cover up their dirty work, and give Islam a bad name. It is not fair for the majorit of Muslims, who oppose terrorism and denounce violence that is occuring.
Please refer to the following video. It is very true, and will provide valuable insight; I strongly recommend watching it:

I know this is for Christians but I am Muslim & i wanted to point out that there is NO good reason why you shouldn't consider islam. Many of these people have not researched the religon Islam & have no proper knowledge to act against it. When they think of Islam they think of "terrorists" which is a big misjudgement. If you want to become Muslim more power to you, but you have to research Islam. There is many Christians that have converted to Islam post a question & say "Any Christians that converted to Islam? " you will get many responses & ask them about how it is and make your decision wisely, take the time you need. Well I hope my advice helped you take care

You should thoroughly research it first. Read the koran, but read it in the context of Muhammad's life. Much of it was directed at specific situations going on at the time.
I can give you a lot of reasons, but here are a few:
Surah 9, verse 5 tells Muslims to slay, capture, and ambush the idolaters.
Read what Muhammad did to the Jews who lived in Medina. Two tribes were exiled, the third was condemned: all the men were beheaded and the women and children were sold for ransom.
Read how Muhammad lusted after his adopted son's wife and then had a convenient revelation telling him that she was his wife now, and then had another convenient revelation outlawing adoption for all time (to avoid the impropriety of being married to your daughter-in-law).
Read about all the battles -- the unprovoked attacks on Arab tribes all around Medina.
Find the mistakes in the Koran. The same verse shifts from first person to third person then back to first again. This happens frequently. Gabriel addresses Mary, the mother of Jesus, as "sister of Moses." They lived about 1500 years apart. While the Bible has a lot of inconsistencies, and we can accept that because of the way it was collected and edited over a period of more than a thousand years, this is not appropriate for what Muslims consider the direct, word-for-word dictate straight from God. There is a big difference between "inspired" by God (Bible) and "dictated" by God (Koran).
Read in the Koran the dozen different categories of sinners that God "does not love." In the Koran, God's love is conditional. He only loves us when we're obedient.
Christianity teaches us that we are all sinners, that God loves us anyway, unconditionally, even though we are not deserving of His love.
While the Koran mentions Jesus' virgin birth and a couple of miracles, nothing of Jesus' teachings are in there.

You need to go to where you think you are to be. If islam doesn't work out for you, you will know soon enough, and your search may bring you back to Christianity, or may not. Eventually, here or hereafter you will find what is real and what you need.

Don't join Islam. Its been a few hundred years since the Christians last embarked on a set of murderous Crusades, so I'm sure another kill-fest is due soon.

I believe in jesus and that he died and rose again and is the son of god. From what i know about islam they do not believe in that.
All i know is that christianity is the way for me. It rings true. But it will have to be your decision. No one can tell you what do to. Perhaps do some research and prayer? Pray to -- well god or allah - they are both one in the same.
Good luck :-)
