Seriously, this is a tough thing. Atheists of course are the most understanding of people and therefore will be the most difficult to tell. They might not take you seriously since most of our communication is done in sarcasm. All I know is that it was easier telling my parents I was just getting married than attempting to tackle that whole "straight" topic.

Sit them down and tell them in a reassuring and gentle manner. They may be disturbed and upset at first, but give them time they will come around. As good parents they will support your choices in life no matter how shocking it is.

Perhaps you could leave pamphlets around the house about heterosexuality, or comment when you see a heterosexual couple on TV, something like, "They look very happy together, don't you think?"

Good luck.

First stop with that metro-sexual superhero look, it's confusing everyone. Secondly sit them down, tell them you were born that way, and that it's not their fault.

Bring your "friend" of the opposite sex home and introduce him or her . Then say "I love you and I want to share my love for X (insert the name) with you. Also,by the way, I now also believe in God and we are getting married at X's church." How's that?
