The Word of God says that money is the root of all evil, not money itself but the lust of it, that drives men to do all they can to earn it, get it, steal it, have it, sell their soul to get more of it, to get all they can and still it drives to want more we call that today - Materialism!.

The Bible says that the love of money is but I have to agree with one of the other people here. I think that personal irresponsibility is the root of evil. When some one rapes someone or molests a child is that caused by the love of money?? No I think it's cause by caring about no one but themselves. When some one robs someone is it really about money or it it because they have a need to feed an addiction? I think that evil is caused by an inability to feel for others and to understand that all actions have consequences.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10
Everything we have is Gods in the first place. We are suppose to give tithes and offerings to the church.
No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. Matthew 6:24
Who do you serve God or money?

Satan the Devil
Some people will say "money". But that is not entirely true. It was not money that enticed Adam and Eve to sin in the garden of Eden.
True, money is the root of all sorts of trouble today. However, it would be inacurrate to say that money is the root of ALL evil. In fact, contrary to popular belief, the Bible does not say that money is the root of all evil. This misconception comes from an inaccurate wording in the old King James Version Bible which says:
"For the love of money is the root of all evil" (1 Timothy 6:10)
Notice that it doesn't say "money is the root of all evil", but rather, "the LOVE of money" is the root of all evil."
A more accurate translation reads:
"For the love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things" (NWT)
Notice this translation says "A root" instead of "THE root", indicating that there are other things that cause evil besides just money. And instead of saying "of all evil", this translation says "all sorts of injurious things".
Notice some other translations:
"For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil" (NWT)
"For the love of money is a source of all kinds of evil" (GNB)

Individual irresponsibility.
This includes self-deceit, solipsism, lack of foresight, and general stupidity. Just examine any problem that isn't an act of nature or a freak accident, and you'll find these reasons are the ultimate cause.
It sure isn't pride or financial security that's the root of all evil. If anything criminals most often lack both.

The love of money.
1Ti 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
1Ti 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
