I am currently studying the Middle Eastern culture and I don't want to offend anyone.

I am merely doing this out of the respect that I have come to appreciate after reading the past, present and future of Islam.

Most of the tattoos I have now are spiritual.. I have a celtic cross, dream catcher with a wolf howling on each side and a full breasted eagle above it. I want to get something on the chest of the eagle, even if it's one word or just noting it in the (23:19) format.

No I am not Muslim, but I do like some of the scriptures in the Quran.

PLEASE ONLY INTELLIGENT ANSWERS. ANYTHING OFFENSIVE WILL BE REPORTED.

Thank you for the respect.

Umm, crysy crys or whatever, I don't think you read very well and just wanted to try and insult me. Read the question again. Thank you for being ignorant, please come again.

amazingly intelligent.. don't worry. there are people staying on the safe side and I really appreciate it.

I'm asking mostly because I don't want to offend Muslims.. so technically they are the only ones that should be answering, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. I guess even the ignorant ones.

By the way, I'm Creole (French Haitian), not the woman you describe, complete opposite (you'll know when you read closer to the bottom)

I understand why you want to do this, especially when you see so many Christians who have religious tattoos. Tattoos are forbidden in Islam though and having the Qur'an tattooed on you body would actually be disrespectful. Muslims who wear jewelry with the Qur'an or the name of Allah on it actually remove it before they use the bathroom, out of respect. If you get a tattoo like that, you can never remove it when you should. I think you are better getting a nice piece of jewelry that you can remove when necessary.

If you do choose to get such a tattoo, I understand, I am just telling you from a Muslim standpoint... I truly admire your respect for my beliefs. BarakAllahfeek.

Thank you for respecting islam..that's so hard to find these days among offensive people..
Here's what i think...first of all tattoo's in islam is forbidden (so i haven't seen anybody in my country that have a Quran verse tattooed on their body), second...if you still want to have a tattoo that have islamic feeling, you could get a writing of something in arabic...maybe your name or a certain word like peace or love or your favorite number.
I definitely don't suggest you to have a Quran verse because you'll never know how people will actually react to this...just be on the safe side... ^^ but i like the idea of putting arabic words as a tattoo, if i'm allowed to have one that is...maybe i'll get a temporary one! ^^

You make me afraid to answer. Who knows what may offend you? It is not nice to threaten people. At the risk of being reported for my honest and fact-based opinion, I'd say don't do it. There are several reasons:

1. Muslims would find it offensive. See that as trivializing sacred word. There are prescribed rules for even handling the Quran and where it can be read. I'm certain tattooing your body with it would offend.
2. If something (God forbid) should happen to you, say you were detained or in a serious accident or met with foul play it might cause "officials" in these scary times of homeland security to draw inaccurate conclusions about you. This could cause harm or unnecessary grief to you or your family, or even hinder an investigation.
3. Christians who follow the bible closely disagree with any tattoos. It is forbidden in scripture.

Of course, it is your body and your choice.

Okay, interesting question - Islam prohibits tattooing, and so I'd say it would be offensive to Muslims (if that's your concern) to get a Qur'anic verse tattooed on the body. Not to mention the fact that the Qur'an is supposed to be pure/clean/etc and since tattooing is not, it seems to contradict.

I also have tattoos, and a few years ago wanted to get only a word in Arabic tattooed on my body. I was told by Muslim friends that even the Arabic script would offend (although I plan to get that tattoo anyway, since it's really nobody's business given that I'm getting a non-religious word).

I would say stick to something symbolic rather than a verse itself.

Well in Islam it is haraam and a sin to alter the body in any way like using body piercings(except the ears for women), or to get a tattoo because that is altering and changing the body that ALLAH(SWT) gave you. It is also Haraam for a person to tattoo a verse from the Holy Qur'an on the body. It's a sign of disrespect to the Qur'an and to Muslims from my understanding. However Hennia is allowed since it washes off but I wouldn't advise you to get a tattoo of a verse from the Qur'an on your body. It's just out of respect for Muslims.

I understand why you want to but its a bit disrespectful to Islam. Since the tattoo would be on your body, it would be carried everywhere with you, wherever you go. Such as the bathroom and maybe ( I'm not saying you do this but) like to a club, or party.. anywhere that Islam wouldn't necessarily agree for the words of Allah to be.

How about you do an alternative. By a chain or ring that says Allah on it, there are many pendants you can guy that say that. ( you would of course have to take it off before going to the bathroom ) .. but it's better then nothing if you really desire one. They also make pendants with whole verses written and sometimes can personalize them for you with the verse that you want.

Thanks for the appreciation Hun

Dont expect to visit any islam nation or region if you do.
there's a reason the military does not allow any form of islam tattoos on soldiers. theres a general unspoken rule over in islam regions. If they recognise you adapting anything from their culture (particularly being from a western nation), don't expect to live for much longer.
Does not apply only to the military, just pointing out the fact of how seriously they take it.

EDIT:

It's funny to me to see a thumbs down, as i've seen this happen first hand for NO OTHER reason than the person being of western state and possesing a tattoo of a verse from Quran....

umm no...
You see, the verses of The Holy Qur'an are holy...
and if some Arab Muslims who memorized the Qur'an saw this, it would be trouble..
And tattoo is prohibited in Islam..
you see, if the you went inside a toilet..
it's disrespectful to have a verse of The Holy Qur'an in a place dirty like a toilet..
even the name Allah can't be violated and abused..
I appreciate it if you love the scriptures of the Holy Qur'an...
May Allah guide us all..

No honey... you can't...
BCZ... it is a sin to touch the words of Quran without wodhoo...
Since it is a holy book... it should be respected (don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that you don't) and placed up on the shelf instead of on the ground or under a stack of books... and no one (other than children who are innocent) is allowed to touch its words without wodhoo...
