Is it just me or are these people nuts?
Why havent they at least been locked up?
What do religious people think of these people?

To be honest I am suprised they havent been shot or something.
Why havent their kids been taken away? Arent they being brainwashed? Isnt it child abuse?
If anyone tried that in the UK, they would soon be stopped from preaching abuse and hate, either by the law or other ways.

I will never knock religion, it gives people hope and inner strength and some of the basic concepts of religion are good (don't kill people, forgiveness, love etc).
What I cannot abide though is hatred or oppression or bringing women or children into the firing line (sorry, not being sexist, just a bit old fashioned).
I personally believe in people, and that everyone has at least a bit of good and kindness in them. But these people test this to the limit.

Non-believers see stories like that and start to stereotype all christians to be that crazy. Doesn't help their image one bit.

Regardless of what anyone thinks about the people at the Westboro Church, there is a "catch 22" within the laws of the United States that protects the villians instead of the victims.... and where everyone has a "right" to practice their "religion" in any way they like. :(

Peaceful regards :)

I'm a Christian who believes they're a cult that took over a one time baptist church. I'm sure they are brainwashing their children, but it's a little hard to deal with over here since it's hard to prove. The moonies got away with brainwashing people for years, mainly because the members wouldn't realize they had been brainwashed. It's sad, really.

As it's all one family & a few weak-minded individuals, they're almost certainly a 'cult' rather than a legitimate church, and hopefully the group will fall apart after the death of its founder (Fred Phelps, he's rather old).

As for why they haven't been shot, I suppose it's because Americans pity them rather than hate them. I'm not American but I consider that a point in America's favour.

We have freedom of speech here, be careful, I have seen video of Muslims near rioting over there lately, did they get taken away?

They are nuts, a VERY small congregation that is NOT affiliated with the Baptist Churches here.

They are mostly all members of one family.

Ignore them and they go away.

Peace!

Chock full. Watch some of the daughter's interviews. After you get over the thought that she really needs a cream rinse all you can see is crazy.

the Phelps are reflection of what diluted people are. And this one of the reason why I think faith is dangerous. Luckily they are just a minority.
