When I was 30 my mum called me on the phone and needed to tell me that my father actually wasn't really my father, that it was another man. And that was a huge surprise to me. I never knew or had an inkling that my father wasn't my biological father? What has been the biggest surprise in your life so far?

When my Grandpa died in April, my aunt (with permission from my grandma) read two very loving a sweet poems he had written to my grandma when they were dating, back in the 1950s. I never knew this side of my grandpa and I am so grateful that I no know that part of him. This wont be a very exciting story for you, but it was a huge shocker to those who knew him and loved him. The man I knew was a hard working straight and narrow guy. To the point, all business. This sensitive side was not one that I had seen. In fact, my Grandpa finally told me that he loved me back when I was already out of HS, after I had told him I loved him for over 20 years of my life. (His previous response had been "you too.") Anyhow. I loved my grandpa very much and this is somwthing that was a shocking surprise to me and I am so happy about it!
I hope everything has workd out for you in your life, and with your surprise. I can't imagine how your Mom must've felt all of these years wanting to tell you but not knowing if she could or should.
Have a wonderful life with the man who you have always known as "Dad". I'll bet he was as real of a dad as anyone could've been to you anyhow. :O)
