I've read and heard that if you sray lemon juice on your hair with a spray bottle that it will give you a 'natural' highlight look. Does anyone know if this works?

Depending on your hair this may or may not work. If your hair is naturally light it will help a little. If it is darker, it may not work at all. Also lemon juice can be very damaging to the hair causing it to dry out. The highlighting kits can work if you know what your doing. If you have brown hair or darker, I wouldn't trust it. You could end up with orange hair. Not to mention lighteners can really damage the hair! Your best bet is going to your local salon and getting a few highlights in the front area of your hair. If it has no previous color, you can use a color or highlift color and achieve amazing results. A few foils should do the trick. Good Luck!

this works for some people, but not all. it has a lot to do with the texture, natural color and quality of your hair. if its been dyed, it may alter your results form the lemon juice. in a spritz bottle, put staright lemon juice (bottlled juice works- doesnt have to be fresh squeezed) into it and mist your hair in sections. part the hair and mist the underside and on top, repeating in each section. lay out and position the hair so its as exposed as possible to the sun. this may take a couple of time to see results- if any. it doesnt work for everyone. be prepared for the hair to feel really dry and brittle.. a good deep conditioning should take care of that. you could try adding lemon juice to your shampoo and conditioner

well is your hair a light brown to blonde color? because if it is then the lemon should work. it just takes forever. i have light brown hair and when i go to the beach over the summer i put lemon juice in my hair(the natural kind squeezed from actual lemons, not the kind that comes in a bottle) and i chust chill at the beach for hours. when i get back inside my hair is this golden blondish color and its really pretty. and if you are concerned about your hair drying out just make sure u wash it with alot of conditioner afterwards/.

Yes, it works, it just takes forever. Do it on a day where you'll be out all day in the sun, like at an amusement park. It smells horrible though.

It could also help attract those that love lemon-y smells.
~Just offering a different reason to try it, or not try it depending on how you feel about lemon-y liking people~ =P

My guess is that it would only make your hair sticky and it would be hard to wash/comb out. I wouldnt experiment on my hair if I were you. It would be like spraying lemonade on your hair. I dont thing it would work at all.

Tiffany,

Lemon juice will remove all oils from your hair and leave them quite dry and brittle.
