What do you mean overdue? It's over the expiration? If so and if it doesn't stick or moldy I would use it with something that needs to be cook. It's normally fine to eat it but if you are worried about it,

Don't worry about it. I've never seen butter go bad ever. Not even mold.

yes, you won't die from it, though the flavor may be "off" somewhat.
