About a month ago I posted a question about a neighbor who lives a few doors down who threatened to kill my dog. Cops warned him not to speak to me nor touch my dog...He's upset because she hates him and barks at him when he passes our house. She is on Invisible Fence and has NEVER crossed the line in the two years she's been on it.(And she has NEVER been outside unattended)..Anyway he continues to taunt her (reving his motorcycle and slowing down in front of my house (he claims he is scared of her yet he taunts her at least 3-4 times a week), and he laughs. Now I am sick to my stomach EVERYDAY fearing for my dogs safety from this madman..Im afraid to take her out even though Im with her, and scared to walk her alone...This man is nuts and there is no guessing what he'd do if he saw her and I walking alone. So my question is do I contact police again? (They are VERY much on my side, and understand). Why is he harrassing my poor dog (shes a shepherd/cattle dog mix 50 pounds)?

She is a nice dog and ALL other neighbors agree he is being obnoxious..He filed a report saying my dog is a threat to the community, and cops laughed because they know she is harmless.

She only barks at him...and she's rarely in thr front yard anyway...Why is it my fault when she is on my property..I told him if he came over and met her, she'd stop barking at him, but he said he didnt want to meet the fing dog..

If you feel that your personal saftey is at risk, I would contact the police again. Even if they don't come out, at least they will have this on file in the event that something might happen.

Are you able to video tape the behavior to show to them?

added: it sounds like he is attempting to get your dog to cross the fence so he has an excuse if he "does" anything to your dog. He is provoking in this case.

I would record, using both a camcorder + tape recorder (the kind that fits in your pocket or inside your shirt) + it will provide you with proof of his taunting the dog. Keep an eye on him, have neighbors help you + give you statements. All the evidence against him will help you in the end.
Nother question : is your dog kept outside ? is is possible for you to have him as an indoor dog ? Then you would never have to worry. Or have him kept in back of yard where this guy can't get to him. I dislike people like this. I am so sorry you are going thru this.
This guy is definitely a bully. Does he have an animal abuse record ? that would sure be put up against him.
Chances are, he is trying to get the dog to bite him so your dog will have to be euthanized.
Suggestion : ask the police what you can do. Contact a lawyer - one for no charge + he/she can tell you what to do.
Contact your spca + ask the same.
Just curious - is this guy renting or does he own his residence ?

I agree with shadow. Tape the jerk. And any time you see him doing ANYTHING to get your dog to cross the line, call the cops again. Every time you call, it goes on a record. And let this guy know, you ARE keeping score and calling the cops every time. If he knows the cops are also keeping track of his moves, he might get nervous and back off. He has to know that if anything happens to your dog, the cops are looking at him first. NEVER leave your dog outside when you're not home. Have other neighbours watch for his tricks and have one of THEM call the cops. If someone ELSE is calling, they'll really know he's up to no good. More people that call the better. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Unless he threatens or assaults you or the dog (in your yard), the police can't do anything. Some people are just obnoxious. It is a fact of life. I would suggest you call the humane society instead of local police if he teases the dog. They are more apt to do something about it.

It's times like this you would wish you had a giant, guarding rottie with a short temper to deal with nasty people who come on your property..... but my imagination runs away.

And never let her run loose. Don't give him the opportunity to find fault with her. You be legal and upright. Keep your dog safe. I also like the idea of videotaping that someone else mentioned.

Yes report him again so it will be on record. you should get a video camera that goes off when you need it to' so you can show the police that he is terrorizing you and your poor dog. you can;t take a chance and even let your sweet dog be outside without you around. That is sad in your own yard and house ; you can;t let your dog be a dog and sit outdoors and comes when he wants,,,I kinda have the same kind of problem .My neighbor hates cats and has trapped a few already [pets] and one he caught now has a broken leg and she;s so fearful the owner can;t get near her.to get her to a vet. I bring my 2 cats outdoors and sit with them for 1 hour and then indoors we come; like were criminals or something; when it;s the other way around,,your neighbor is a nut; so be careful and pray that he moves or his bike rides him to hell where he belongs,,,I feel for your pain ..good luck and give your dog a kiss from...Shelly in Seattle.,., he does it causes he;s a psycho and needs to be locked up .people like that love to haress and torture animals for no known reason except they like it,, look at Jeffery dahmer; same thing,,,, lol

Contact the police and also go around to all of your neighbors, except that one, and have them sign a letter basically saying your dog has a good temperament and this man has been harassing you and taunting the dog. Once you have enough wittiness to sign and who are willing to testify on your behalf I highly suggest you have a restraining order placed for him and press charges for harassment.
At lease that is what I would do. Why live in fear?
Lots of luck to you!
Andrea
P.S. Another good idea is to print each of the questions that you have placed in here for evidence. Every little bit adds up.

Welll i wouldnt blame her if she went up to him and bit his sorry lil a$$. i would be angry if some one was taunting me like that too. She is scared and angry that someone is doing this to her, so she has nothing else to do but to defend herself like barking and such, since she cant cross the line, and i bet if she was allowed to he would be so afraid of her. the reason why hes taunting her is because she cant get to him so he thinks he has all the freedom to do what he does. feel free to call the cops and tell them what hes doing, slowing down in front of your house, reving the bike, etc. i would tape it to have proof and he could get fined or something, that way hell know to leave you and your dog alone.

For protection while walking your dog, get a gun license so while walking you can carry a pistol. If you don't like that idea, make a walking stick. If you are worried about this punk comming around your house teasing your dog, buy a cheap camera to mount in a hidden area for the safety of you and your dog.Lastly, if you fear this "man" stealing your dog, have your vet put a tracing bead under the skin of your dog. I have done this for all of my Miniature Schnauzers.

Video tape the harassment and press charges. A letter from a lawyer often works also. In my area, a lawyer will write up and send a letter for around $25. The lawyer should write something on his/her letterhead telling the neighbor to cease and desist from harassing actions under the penalty of law, and that further negative action from the offending neighbor will result in prosecutiuon. Have him/her mention the video taped evidence.

you can call the cops and possibly get a restraining order against him, but it is unlikely that he will obide by it. I would say just put up a privacy fence. I know its unattractive but if it will keep him from messing with your dog and keep trouble away from you then its worth it. Our neighbors didnt like our dog just because of her breed (rottweiler) and were harassing us and we put up a privacy fence and the problem was solved.
