my sister just got a call from someone at the social security office and they told her she would recieve a $1000 grant for paying her property taxes on time....they took her bank account number and said it will be deposited in 4 or 5 days...anyone else heard of this?? i think it's a scam!!

MOST DEFINITELY A SCAM.
- there are no grants for paying property taxes on time
- what has the social security office got anything to do with property taxes
- government NEVER calls people to let them know there are grants available
- government NEVER calls people and ask for their bank account number

If she gave them her bank information, she made a serious mistake. This is definitely not legit. She should call her bank immediately and have them flag her account so this scamster can't empty it - if it's not already too late, that is.

CALL YOUR BANK AND REPORT THIS IMMEDIATELY!!
You have been SCAMMED! If she does not contact her bank IMMEDIATELY, her account will be drained by these bastards!!
NEVER give out personal information to ANYONE who calls you on the phone!!

SCAM.
Call the bank now and report it. Tell them to allow no ACH debits to the account or it will be emptied!
