~Did the tat artist give you any ointment to put on it? (They should have.) If not, rub Vaseline on it to help the healing process. That's why it itches so bad Sweetheart, because the skin is healing. Should take care of itself (with the aid of Vaseline/ointment) in a week - 10 days. And, I know this may sound "off the wall" but, you can also put diaper rash cream on it to stop the itch. :)

I have 4 tattoos in different places and they are quite big, They all felt different when done and they all took different times to heal, the one on my back did itch the most...sit it out for another week and if it keeps itching after the scab has gone, go to the artist again and see what they say.
Just dont scratch it or pick it or the ink will come off with it and it will look faded and not sharp ;) Hope it feels better soon for yah...

I'm pretty sure it itches because your white blood cells are trying to heal it thus the scabbing and sloughing off of skin. It could also have something to do with your clothing irritating it, for instance, the waistband of your jeans. I would reccomend trying some A&D ointment. If your skin discolors or looks infected, or if the area starts to hurt, I would see a doctor. A staph in infection is the most common tattoo related infection and can really eff you up. Just give it time and let it get some oxygen. Try to make sure you're clothes aren't rubbing on it or that you aren't using any other toiletries like shampoo or lotion that might interfere with its healing. Good luck!

Some tatts just get itchy as they heal up. I have four total so far, and all but one was itchy while it healed.

When did you get the tattoo done? My artist told me to use A&D ointment for the first three days, just enough to cover it without there being a glare and then using any Lubriderm lotion twice daily after that.

I would recommend you try that and also talk to your artist, maybe he will give you better advice.

Natural healing process. And depends on what type of cream you are useing (ie.tattoo goo,h2o,a&d ointment)could cause you to itch more.Senitive to what the cream is made of.As for helping the icth --pat or rub very gently so as not to pull the ink out

DO NOT SCRATCH IT!!!!
Your tattoo is healing. And if you scratch it you might pull off the scab. And if you do that you might pull out ink, and your tattoo will have a faded look.
If itching is really bothering you talk to your artist.

It's only because of the scab, you could put some baby oil on it ,that will soften the scab and take the itching away, Im talking from experience

I have 14 tattoos, and only some of them itched and others were fine. It just has to do with placement and size. The more area of skin that is irrated, the more it's going to itch. DO NOT SCRATCH IT! If you feel the need to touch it, slaping it lightly helps. Also keep it moisturized, it should quit itching after a couple weeks.

No Worries
That's normal
It will quit in a few days.
Sleep on your stomach ,
or side as much as you can.
Don't let anyone tell you, to
do anything weird to it,
like using some strange lotions,
or what not. Just follow your
after care instructions. If you feel
there are still problems after
a week, call your artist.

Never put regular lotion on your tattoo!!! Very bad, nor neosporin. Go get A&D ointment.n Atleast 6 times a day and don't cake it on. Wash it in the shower too just don't scratch it. it will GET ALL MESSED UP AND YOU'LL HAVE TO REDO IT!!!
