He'll be a little out of it for about a day, maybe two, then he would start acting a little more normal. He'll only get fat if you feed him too much/the wrong kinds of food, or if you don't play with him/keep him active.

Neutering does not really change an animal's behaviour. It only reduces or eliminates sexual behaviour, which won't be present in your kitten yet anyway if he's under about 7 months. It certainly won't stop him playing! It may take him a day or two to fully recover from the op, but he'll be just the same as he ever was after that.

As for getting fat and lazy - no reason he should if you're feeding him a decent food. Neutering removes certain hormones and slows the metabolism down, but it's perfectly controllable. Feed him the correct daily amount of a decent food for his size and he should be fine (by decent I mean nothing like Whiskas, Felix or any supermarket stuff - Iams and Science Plan are examples of decent foods).

Don't worry about kitty, you're doing the right thing, and protecting his future health!

He might be sore for a couple of days but he will be fine. There are many common misconception that go along with spaying and neutering animals. It depends on the type of animal, but I have found that it also depends on you. It can calm them down and cause them to gain a little extra weight. However, there is an old saying "if you dog is fat, than you're not getting enough exercise". The same thing is also true with cats. Many people think that they are just lazy and don't need attention. Not true. I had a fat and lazy cat once. The reason why; my dad let her eat when ever she wanted and they didn't play with her. Once I got her I put her on regular meals and taught her to play games and to play with toys. She's way more healthy and active than she was before. My advise to you is to keep you kitten a kitten as long as you can. All cat have a kitten inside if you can bring it out in them. Give your kitten lots of attention. In the long run- If you let him get fat and lazy than he'll be fat and lazy.

The younger they are, the less effect it has on their personality. Chances are he will calm down, at least a little bit and at least temporarily until he heals, but he'll still be the same cat. I got an adult cat and got him neutered, and while he did pack on some pounds (I just asked a question about him and his jelly belly!) he still plays and even fetches. But like I said, the younger they are the easier they seem to bounce back to their frisky selves.

Yes, he will play and probally be more affectionate after
altering. Should not allow him to have too much activity for a couple days to a week afterwards. He will gain weight and fill in nicely. He should not get over fat unless you over feed him. You made a wise choice getting him fixed.
Good luck. God bless...

He will still be playful. Mine is still playing, and he was neutered 3 years ago!!

He'll be groggy and in a little pain. Within 2-5 days he should be back to his normal self.

They can tend to gain a little weight after being neutered, so you may need to play with him so he gets plenty of exercise, and you may need to adjust his food intake.

well first let me say how proud i am of you all for getting your kitty neutered!!
That shows that you are such good and responsible pet owners...
Nah! kitty wont feel like playing for a few days even so it probably will be very groggy from the surgery and should be left alone as far as playing for the next few days.

although they tend to snap back pretty quickly but still you should give them time to rest and get better!

mostly likely he wil gain some lbs and may even get a lil lazy but depends on how active he is now?
If he is very active now, then it probably wont slow him down much!

God bless ya for doing this for kitty and to help cut down on all the unwanted liters of poor ole kittys everywhere!
