I would guess around £5-£10. Woolworths have loads of lazytown cd's and dvds, Argos have some toys. Jigsaws are always good at that age too.
Did a quick search and came up with this site, never used it before though.

Try Amazon or EBay for books and toys - I've seen stuff in most toy shops but not actually seen any books etc My daughter loves it and I got her loads off those sites and they were only about £3 each (plus p&p) There were story books and colouring books with crayons and paints etc which she just loved
The norm seems to be between £5 and £10 on pressies where I live so a couple of books would be more than enough...
Good luck

I usually bring a clothing item + an inexpensive toy that doensn't occupy too much space (parents will be thankful for that). Do not spend more than $20.

Cars, trains, books, jigsaws, try the book people.co.uk, great stuff and really cheap. Between £5-10 seems to be the norm about here.

At age three, children love books because they see mommy and daddy reading so they are interested in reading at this age. Books that are based on friendship, reward, and interaction are good choices. If you prefer something active a T-ball set will do.

This might sound boring, but jigsaws and/or books is always a godsend! Kids always go back to either gift.
