fraid not , its against some human right thing, unless they are ordered by a court of law or is a minor, in some places however the person who iss going into rehab can sign a document stating that they can only be released by a family member or untill the staff see that his detox is over, but these are for extreme cases ie life at risk kinda stuff

Unfortunately not chic. I learnt the hard way that someone in that situation can only help themselves. They can have all the support in the world but like a smoker it comes down to willpower at the end of the day.

You can get them to last long enough to get the alcohol out their system but its the temptation that gets them later. 1 week 2 weeks 3 weeks 6 months. There's always a reason (excuse) for another drink.

I think it depends on where you are located BUT I think you can seek legal help if they are a threat to themselves or others - aka drinking and driving, drinking and becoming abusive, suffering from alcohol poisoning multiple times, etc. If you look up a detox center in your local yellow pages you should be able to find out what your states laws are from them

Generally no. Unless the detox is court ordered, or the person is a minor, no one can be forced to enter/stay at a rehab facility against their will.

I am afraid not honey. Although my brother had a nurse come to live in the home to ensure his detox was carried out and it was organised by the hospital/social services if i am correct. It worked beautifully until a couple of weeks later when the wife filled the fridge with wine to test him!!

Your insurance company may not pay for the rehab if the person leaves before they are released by the doctor. That would be a good reason to stay.

The only way you can make someone stay in rehab is if they are your child and are under 18 years of age.

Why on earth would you want to presure someone to do that if they do not want to do it for themselves.
It would never ever work for them, they would spend the entire time there fighting anything thatcoems their way and anything that is said to them, sorry to be so blunt but they really need to want to get help and the best thing to do is to let them know how worried you are for them and how much you love them and hope that they will seek treatment.

No. The only way someone is held against their will in an medical setting is if they are sectioned under the mental health act.
