Can someone please tell me what "Is he in the cupboard" into french please. I know it sounds stupid...lol. And what is cupboard in french? I used an online translator and it didnt seem right. ty

I've always been taught in school that armoire was a wardrobe, like for clothes, rather than a cupboard like a kitchen cupboard.

What I call a cupboard, my husband calls an armoire. I have been told we are both wrong though. I don't think I have ever heard the word "placard" spoken aloud.

Armoire is a piece of furniture.

Goddess: I've heard the word "placard" spoken in France. I think "placard"refers to a wall cabinet, whereas "armoire" is more of a stand-alone kitchen cabinet.
