Will the wiring harness be the same regardless of the level of audio system that came with the car?

One factory option comes with 6 speakers, another comes with 12 speakers, including a sub. If I get the base option, will the wiring already be there for all 12 possible speakers, or will I have to run wire if I want to add speakers/components.

This is for a 2007 Toyota Tundra. I know there aren't many around yet, but what would you expect? (especially if you are a professional installer)

Regarding the harness' provision for an amplifier unit, should it be possible to plug an aftermarket amplifier into that factory plug, with some sort of adapter?
I may also want to change out the head unit, which I am fairly comfortable with.
Does Toyota, or anyone else, print a wiring diagram that is available to the public?

"Looking directly a system wiring" is much easier said than done. Factory speaker wiring is always bundled with other electrical wiring, making it impossible to trace without a vehicle schematic.

It's extremely unlikely that premium sound wiring provisions exist in vehicles with the basic sound system. For one thing, Toyota and Lexus vehicles with upgrade sound systems include separate amplifiers. It's not just a matter of adding additional wires for more speakers. In a base system, the wiring runs directly from the head unit to the speakers; in an upgrade system, wiring runs from the head unit to the amplifier location, and from there to the various speakers.

Combined with that, there's a cost associated with copper wiring; both in the material itself and in the extra weight it adds to the vehicle. Manufacturers aren't likely to include extra wire runs for no reason.

If you intend to add additional component speakers outside of the stock locations, you'll need to plan on using your own wire. That would be a good rule of thumb even if you had stock wire runs; stock component wiring often includes in-line crossover filters, which probably wouldn't blend well with your after-market components.

The best way to know for sure is to be looking directly at your system wiring, and configuration. For that many amount of speaker the car should have components speakers, which are a little more complicated than normal speakers

They make different harnesses for base and premium stereos. But you should be able to buy an adaptor
