You know how win a driver wins a race they go out into the grass and cut doughnuts and sling grass everywhere and / or spin out on the track or get up against the wall and just burn out their tires. Well, everytime my driver Jeff Burton wins (Busch or Cup) he never ever does all that, he just drives down the front and waves at everyone. He says he doesn't believe in tearing up anything, as in good tires, ect. He's so old fashioned.

Well, I want to know your opinions on Jeff Burton's thoughts of not getting out there spinning around and burning out. Do you think it makes people think different of him, or people like the fact that he doesn't beleive in tearing stuff up or what? I kinda wish he would do it win he wins, rather than driving by waving at everybody. But I understand is doesn't agree with it, so I'll respect that. How doesn't everyone else feel about it?

I agree with Jeff 100%. Some years back I saw a post race interview in which he was asked about that and his response was "These guys built me a great car I'm not going to tear it up or chance breaking a transmission to do a burnout It's just not necesary". Class act all the way.

Winning a race is a great accomplishment and I think a Driver should celebrate it the way they want to. Doughnuts or no doughnuts; it's their choice.

Some of the greatest celebrations I have seen had no burnouts involved. Rusty Wallace; when he broke his winless streak did a reverse victory lap in honor of his old Friend Alan Kulwicki.

I can't stand Kurt Busch; but when he won a race shortly after 9/11 and did a victory lap with an American Flag; that was awesome.

Jeff is a great guy and one of the class acts in NASCAR. If anyone thinks any less of him for not doing burnouts; they are probably a burnout themselves. Jeff has raced a long time and has the respect of both Drivers and Fans. No way would I think any less of him for not doing a burnout.

Jeff Burton is an old school driver. I totally respect him for that. What he usually does is called a Polish Victory Lap where he drives around the track backwards. Dale Earnhardt Sr did this same thing. The only time that I can ever remember Sr doing a burnout was after finally winning the Daytona 500 on his 20th try.

I love NASCAR and my favorite driver is Jr, but I think one thing the sport is missing is the old school drivers to go along with the new school mentality. It will be a sad day when one of the ultimate old school drivers Mark Martin ends up retiring for good.

The burnouts and donuts are overdone. I am also of the opinion that too much time and effort goes into building the cars and engines just so Johnny Racer can blow it up showing off after a win. I'm with Mark Martin and Jeff Burton on this one. Act like you've won before, and you're going to do it again. Do a victory lap and take it to victory lane. It doesn't make any sense to make even more work for an already stressed out race team.

Doing all of that showy stuff is not a longstanding tradition in NASCAR. It's really only become the norm in the last 10-15 years. Alan Kulwicki used to do a "Polish victory lap" where he went clockwise around the track. I think it's O.K. for a driver to NOT do it. It's almost cliche nowdays. Jeff is being more respectful, you might say, in the way that Barry Sanders and Walter Payton would just hand the ball over to the ref when they scored a touchdown. The saying in football is act like you've been there before. You can also cause transmission and engine troubles from revving it so hard after it's been pushed for a long time during the race.

Myself, I think the burnouts on pavement are cool, but I like the "Polish Victory Lap" a never ending tribute to Alan Kulwicki, the last owner/driver to win a Championship in the Cup series......Jeff Burton is cool, not my favorite but, a good old time racer, Burnout or not, let the victor celebrate the way he wants to.....I know they are happy to have won, why tear up the lawn & car ?

I think its great, that there are drivers that don't go out there and tear up whats left of their equipment. Sure its nice to see a burnout after a win. But I mean its not everything... I think the Polish Victory Lap is better than a burnout because its a tribute to one of the best there ever was in the business. Not enough drivers, think the way Burton does. Its a class act, which is exactly what Burton is. Have a great day. Enjoy the race Sunday! Should be a great one! Go Harvick!

Too be honest, I never noticed that Jeff Burton didnt do that, but I certainly dont respect him LESS for not. I enjoy the burnouts, I enjoy the Backflips, I enjoyed the Polish victory laps and I enjoyed JG driving around with the Number 3 flag as a sign of RESPECT. (didnt enjoy the stuff being thrown AT him, lol)

Everyone is different and has different ideas. Me, I would pay some SERIOUS money JUST to go out there and burn tires sometime...:)

Wouldnt mind if my old *** could still do backflips too! I hate Carl Edwards....lol (KIDDING)

Jeff Burton is indeed a class act. I have no disrespect for anyone who chooses not to do a burnout, etc...It's always a crowdpleaser to see the burnouts and doughnuts but the more traditional drivers like Jeff Burton have the right and respect from the fans to do whatever they wish for their victory!

there was a time in the not so distant past that no drivers did the burnouts and donuts if the money was coming out of the drivers pockets u wouldnt see em doing all that i realize that most fans like to see the celebration burnouts and i gotta admit i enjoyed harvicks last year at watkins cuz i was in the frontstretch grandstand i think tho that less is more and other drivers should do the same as burton if your jeff or jimmie and youve won a few races already this season why do it but if its your first win or first win in a long time have at it
carls backflip is cool but wait till he tries to pull that off in another 10 years
