Normally I wouldn't assist those who find themselves in a tight spot because they were too lazy to do their own homework...

But, - you've caught me in a particularly good mood, so I will help you by posting this link to an article on Jainism.
...it is quite informative, I assure you:

If you want to do a hack's job, look up Jainism on wikipedia. It will give a start.
They are some offshoot of hinduism I think. Most notably they don't like killing anything, even the smallest creatures such as flies and bugs. They mostly are in India, but there are probably some in countries like UK where some Indians have moved.

Jainism is really an offshoot of Hinduism, as is Buddhism. In Jainism, the authority of the Vedas is rejected. Instead of rishis as in the Vedic (Hindu) tradtion, the Jains have Thirthankaras, or mystic-prophets. Jain people often believe in being "extreme vegetarians" or people who avoid [obviously] meat, fish, eggs, and milk, but also onions, and any other food that may cause "rajas" (passion or the desire for activity) or "tamas" (inertia or sluggishness), instead of foods that cause "sattva" or (purity, lightness of being, and clarity of thought). Jain castes also exist in four major categories, which basically have a root of similarity but social differences. Jain people are often [stereotypically] good at merchandising.

jain buddhist monks are the ones who prove complete control over there consciousness and living entity by practicing difficult asanas like holding there hands in the air for years, or lighting themselves on fire while meditating, or levitating, sitting naked on a frozen lake overnight and consciously dilating there bloodcells to raise their body temperature 15 degrees to survive or going months on end without ingesting any food and remaining healthier than most americans. They also know when they are about to die, and will go to a secluded place and sit in an asana with a rope tied around their necks to their feet. for months they will have eaten nothing but a type of treebark that will remove all the bacteria from their digestive system, and they will just sit in asana. finally, when they have reached enlightenment, they release the asana and the rope tied around there neck does the rest and they are at peace. and, because of the diet in their end days, their bodies don't decay. It is an amazing and trying feat of self mummification. Do some research still so you have some sources to list in your bibliography, by all means. you will learn some pretty interesting things about the people that devote themselves to jainist philosophy. they are a beautiful and wise people.

Yes, I am a teacher.

Go to the public library and look up information on Jainism. You should be able to find more than one resource to help you answer this question.

it effected mostly the society living in India, they influenced Buddist and Hinduism philosophies but is only practiced by 0.4% of the population. Why don't you read wikipedia for more information? (interestinly the swatiska is their symbol)
I put the word in the search engine and got a few thousand hits..
