I highly recommend the book The Great Dane Model of Nobility by Jill Swedlow. You also need to go to the GDCA (Great Dane Club of America) site.Another good place is Danes on Line (DOL).
You can also join the yahoo group Premiere Great Danes or any other Dane groups or one of the MSN groups such as the Great Dane Room. There are some very knowledgable Dane people on these groups.

go to google and type in great danes you'll get all the information from there you need about the breed. As to buying one contact your local great dane club - there are 8 in the uk and ask for advice. jim
