I now have installed Windows XP twice on my machine (once on C:, once on D:) so as expected, it asks which system to run once my system has booted up. Unfortunately, neither version will get me into Windows, one way I get critical hardware errors and the other way starts to load but then restarts the computer.
I have tried to boot from the CD, but that won't work either...
Any ideas / help please!?

Get Ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com/) and burn the ISO to CD. Boot from that and it will allow you to access your disks and save them out to another source.
Once you have done that and saved what you need, try to reformat the disk and reinstall fresh.

yes, call the hard drive manufacturer support line tech support,
and they will walk you through re-formatting both drives and starting over. if you need to save files on one drive, go to seagate online and buy the d-i-y software for about $120.00 , i bought and i works perfectly. but do call the tech support
