My chihuahua did that. He was vomiting and had really bad diarrhea. He eventually got better. He had eaten a couple of pine cones, some grass, and a lot of dirt.

Chihuahua's are very active dogs. Being this way for 2 weeks is not normal. There can be a number of things causing this. He really needs to be seen by a vet as soon as possible. The vet can check him out, run the proper tests, determine where the problem is coming from and treat it. Poor little guy! I hope he's feeling better soon, and that it's nothing serious. Good Luck!

Red eyes - not from crying for starters. Shivering indicates pain. Throwing up indicates he's sick. Don't feed dogs cows milk - that will make matters worse. What he upchucked was bile, with a bit of grass he'd been eating. Was he fed during those 2 days he was left outside (disgusting!)? Throwing up bile normally indicates an empty and irritated stomach. Goodness knows what's been going on with him if he's been left for 2 days to his own devices outside. That's a totally irresponsible thing to do at best and now you are paying the price (or sadly, he is!). Get this dog the veterinary help he obviously needs before you lose him - and don't give him anything more to eat (especially milk and egg whites) until you know what's going on with him.

Your dog needs some professional attention because he is very very depressed and sick and has a change in personality and probably a fever and there is nothing you can take for granted about shots lasting the whole years - he may have developed worms or a urinary tract infection or sore throat. The way you say he is shaking he could have a fever. If you let him go too long he may die soon.

VET........NOW!

keep a tube of nutri cal on hand in the future. I know chi's are notorius for pickiness. they have to eat. they can throw up bile (yellow) from going too long without it, even just overnight. If their blood sugar is too low they can go into hypoglycemic shock. the nutrical is a high calorie supplement, not meant to replace meals, but can give nutrition when a pet is not eating and can DEF help the low blood sugar thing. Discuss this with your vet.

I hope u have already called the vet. Good Luck!

Does he perk up after he's eaten at all? If he does he could be getting hypoglycemic. This is very common in Chihuahua's especially if they are really small.

I make sure my 4 have dry food down all the time as 2 are nibblers. They both get hypo if they can;t nibble as they need to. 1 is 2.2lbs. The other 2.5lbs full grown.

If he is getting hypoglycemic I treat this with a little Karo syrup directly on to their tongue. As soon as the shaking stops give him a little canned food (more tempting than dry food) to help keep his sugar up. I often get this with foster dogs as they are often under nourished.

You can find out more about hypoglycimia here: http://www.dummies.com/WileyCDA/DummiesArticle/id-2062,subcat-PETS.html

If it is hypoglycimia he can;t be getting really low as he could not live for 2 weeks like it. It can be fatal so you need to find out right away if this is the problem.

You should get an appointment with your vet asap to find out what is the root of the problem.

Get your poor baby to the vet! I have a chihuahua (Gidget) who is 4 years old and when she does that, it only lasts a couple days. It always turns out to be the dog food! I don't trust commercial dog food anymore. Definitely vet!

You need to take him the the vet ASAP! He could have gotten bit by something or eaten something he shouldn't have or is just sick. That doesn't sound good & especially if he's been doing it for 2 wks. He's probably miserable. Good luck!

PLease get your dog to a vet immediately. Whenever there is a change in your dog's personality/energy, you should have him checked out. Try to bring a stool sample with you when you go.

If your dog has been this ill for 2 weeks, you should be prosecuted for animal cruelty, and banned from owning animals for life.
