I tried to keep my stuff all nice and neat but then I got so big I couldn't even see it. So when I got to the hospital I hadn't shaved for a while. But honestly, when you're in labor that's the last thing you'll be thinking about. I was all modest before I had her and felt weird about having my mom and his mom in there looking at me, but once I started having really bad contractions, I could have cared less. My boyfriend kept having to cover me up b/c I was moving around so much from the pain that the sheet kept coming down and I didn't even notice (or care).
Also, the nurses and doctor do this kind of thing on a daily basis so they aren't really going to be too worried about whether you've shaved or not (they've probably seen alot worse things than a hairy crotch!) ;)

Yes the nurses will see you vagina. And no you shouldnt shave it. A freshly shaved vaginal area is more open to infections. When you shave you open little cuts on your skin wether you can feel them or not. Most people come home from the hospital with staff or something anyway but do you really want to up your chances.
And the nurses dont care wether you are shaved or not.

Up to you. Midwives and docs won't even notice whether you're shaved or not but if it makes you feel better (and you either have help or are a bit more flexible and brave than I am in late pregnancy) then go ahead!
Professionals have seen it all, I'm 33 weeks preg and going to do a bit of grooming now for my sex life and maybe again in a few weeks if hubby offers to help but it's for me and him, not the midwives!!

Shave down where? Your ankles? The word is VAGINA and hell YES the nurses are going to see it as well as the doctors where do you think the baby is going to be birthed from? Or are you like that frog that gives birth through it's mouth?

the doctors and nurses see it, yes..but that's not what matters, it would be advisable to shave down there before your actual delivery date, maybe 1-2 days before for your own benefit. It would be more hygienic for and your baby. Blood and the membranes that come out during your delivery will not have to cling on to anything down there and flow out more smoothly. It lessens the chance of your baby having all that against his/her face or in the nose when he/she comes out. If you cannot shave on your own, have your husband/partner do it for you, or anyone trusted or close to you.

honey, when you're full term and your stomach is so big you can't see your feet, how exactly are you going to shave down there?...you for sure can't see it yourself. I did shave my legs when I went in to have my son, but the nurses don't pay any attention to your body hair, they want to make sure both mom and baby are healthy and doing well. The amount of hair you do or do not have doesn't even cross their minds.

well depends if you care, during labor you certainly won't! Believe me you won't have time to care, and yes of course everyone in the delivery room will see it. Another thing to think about is if you can actually get to that area to shave, its kinda hard being so big! lol

I couldn't see down there to save my life when I was that big. Good luck.
You won't care when you get there, trust me. However, it does help with the perineal care after if you are not terribly hairy. I would try to keep up on it if you can actually pull it off.

No, not at all. It's not the time to risk an infection. And woman, you HAVE to get rid of your inhibitions! Many nurses and several doctors are going to be seeing EVERYTHING!
