I don't know if any of you were around in 1986,but the same promises were made back then,by some of the same people like Ted Kennedy, the laws put forth back then to this day have not been enforced,if they wre really serious about this bill, security on the border would be the first priority not the last

Hi, Magneto.. I guess you are getting to a wrong conclusion.
Your president Bush have been loosing popularity only for the past year or so, two years ago you voted and he get the job because most of the people voted for him.
I can't say about your congress, because i'm not sure what about other issues they are working on.
But refering only to the immigration bill, i have a feeling that many of the American citizen are convinced that there's a need to aprove it, because that's the only way to handle this situation.
Maybe they are just failing in making more efforts to give you more information about this to the public, so you can make judges with some bases.

The American people are starting to realize that not only is the Republican party out dated but the Democratic party has the same fading generation where there was separatism in there life growing up. It is time to let the youth steer the ship while this generation fades. We are in need of a third or fourth party but we need to take corporate person hood away from the rich elite and remove the corporations from the election process and have publicly funded elections if we want real change but this won`t get done with the outdated Republican party.

They know what we want but it doesn't fit their plans. Mr Taco I understand the bill and I am still against it. The bill has some good points but I am for enforcement of the current laws 100% all the time. I don't believe that it is right for officials to decide what laws they will and will not enforce. Enforce all of our laws and if they need changing then send it to a ballot and attempt to change them. Politicians are put in office to uphold our policies and change the ones that need to be changed but until they are changed it is still the law.

Yes!

And the only thing that will bring them out of their insulated existence is the emergence of a viable third political party with someone like Bloomberg leading that party!

Michael Bloomberg is very much a can-do person who is highly intelligent, curious, and open-minded about everything.

He will make an educated and informed decision on everything without the pre-set constraints of a party line requiring him to over rule logic.

This " SHAMNESTY BILL " is just such a betrayal of logic for the sake of political expediency.

It is the equivalent of using over-the-counter drugs to deal with the symptoms of an illness without identifying and dealing with the ROOT CAUSE of that illness.

We are also being betrayed by George W. Bush on this " SHAMNESTY BILL " because it represents an AMNESTY BILL FOR EMPLOYERS of illegal aliens. These small, medium, and large business owners are the major constituents of George W. Bush's Base and Bush wants to pass an EMPLOYER AMNESTY BILL that will take all of these employers off the hook and reward them for their political loyalty.

Ted Kennedy isn't the only politician who is adept at lying to the country!

His late brother's "ALLIANCE FOR PROGRESS" was a plan that was designed to deal with the ROOT CAUSE of the differential between the standard of living of the citizens of the U.S. and Canada on the one hand and the much lower standard of living of the citizens of Mexico and the citizens of most of Latin America on the other hand.

JFK was assassinated, LBJ got us deeply involved in Vietnam, and the ALLIANCE FOR PROGRESS got completely lost in the shuffle of other priorities and distractions like the Arms Race, the Space Race, the War on Poverty, the Pop Culture, etc.

JFK's ALLIANCE FOR PROGRESS was a dynamic and visionary program that would have dealt directly and effectively with the ROOT CAUSE of the ECONOMIC DIFFERENTIAL that serves as the continuous impetus for illegal immigration.

The United States we have come to cherish is beginning to evaporate before our very eyes as a result of the massive illegal immigration that is overwhelming our sovereign borders that have not been adequately protected and employer sanctions that have not been enforced.

Do you think that the mortgage banks care at all that 5 or more families are living in one house? All they care about is whether or not that mortgage payment keeps coming in every month!

For the sake of the bottom line, these major corporate interests are facilitating the loss of our economic and cultural sovereignty.

Republican legislators are selling out this country just as much as the Democratic ones are!

A viable third party is just the ticket to stop this collective betrayal !

Democrats and Republicans alike should begin to re-register as Independents in order to send a clear and unambiguous signal to their respective parties and to position themselves to exercise the option of voting for a viable candidate like Michael Bloomberg.

Everyone out there should begin a major movement right now by calling their County Registrar Of Voters for the form required to change your TAKEN FOR GRANTED political affiliation !

I just got off the phone with my County Registrar Of Voters and the forms to re-register as an Independent are now on their way through the mail!

Pass the word !!!

Most people don't even understand the immigration bill, so how can they really be against it?

In any case, I don't think that D.C. has EVER really been in touch with the rest of the country. Too bad for us that most people don't really seem to care.

Were they ever "in touch" with the country? I think there are much more important problems that need to be addressed other than illegal immigrants...like education reform and health insurance. It's amazing to me that D.C. is one of the lowest performing school districts in the nation and the white house is right in the middle of it ignoring the need for change...and the NCLB response...ridiculous to say the least.
