My ex bf is harassing me on my cell phone... calling repeatedly, leaving messages and texts. I am thinking of getting the police involved but I want to know what to expect if I do so and how the law might handle the situation. I am in connecticut right now.

Save any of the messages. It is not a crime to make a recording of a recording. The person leaving the message knows that they are being recorded because they are leaving a message. Contact your cell phone company on how to block his text messages so that he has to leave voice messages. Also the courthouse may have a domestic violence support coordinator that can give you additional information.

If any of the messages are threatening.. press charges immediately and file for a restraining order.
You save all of the messages for evidence of the harrassment. In many states you don't even need a lawyer.

Your ex boyfriend is commiting the crime of harrasment by telephone. If you choose to get law enforcement involved get i done sooner than later so the time/dates and text messages can be viewed and documented for court.

Couple of options Law Enforcement has assuming you want to press charges is one arrest him if it's an ongoing ordeal. Two warning him to cease texting and issue a warrant.

you can block his number. most phones allow you to do that for text message, but you can just ignore his calls. and you can file a restraining order against him. and yes, calls do count as violation of the order.

the next time he calls you don't talk crap or anything but make it very clear "Please stop calling and harassing me I have had enough" something like that...than if he continues yes go to the cops they will probably ask ??? and all that get a restraining order on him.
Hope he leaves you alone
