Redwoods take a very long time to grow. No Christians but Catholics have been around anyway near long enough to become redwoods. Also, redwoods remain strong and unchanging for centuries, just like the Catholic Church. Protestants, fundamentalist and otherwise, are more like weeds. Little crops that pop up here and there, each different from all the others, none having any really solid substance, and many of them disappearing as quickly as they appeared.

I don't know or care what fundies would be, but I want to be a giant oak. If that's out of the question, I'll go with a kapok or banyon tree.
