Genisis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
1:2 Now the earth was without shape and empty, and darkness was over the surface of the watery deep, but the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the water. 1:3 God said, “Let there be1 light.” And there was light! 1:4 God saw that the light was good, so God separated the light from the darkness. 1:5 God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.” There was evening, and there was morning, marking the first day.
This says only that God created light for us here on earth. This do not talk about the appearance of God. God Bless
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was fully God. 1:2 The Word was with God in the beginning. 1:3 All things were created by him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been created. 1:4 In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind.9 1:5 And the light shines on in the darkness, but the darkness has not mastered it.

WOW!!! U just stumbled across this in Ur Daily Devotions & Bible Reading Right??? Me thinks something Stinketh & it be Ur "Sincerity" in asking this question, is it not??? Me Thinketh U may Become the Stinketh by Trying to Prove the Bible Wrong Again!!! "False Premises & Innuendos" just "Won't Get'er Done" though!!! First, U Betray Ur Femi-Nazi Training which So Does Not Become the other Beautiful Women of this World by trying to Strike Out against the "Male" Image of God, so, please do the rest a favor & Not Mis-Represent the rest of Womanhood with Ur unfortunate mindset! Ok that out of the way, on to Ur attempt through "Question", to Discredit the Bible Again!!! Who, U? "Infer" God is Light??? Not the Scriptures for Sure!!! Maybe that is in Tomorrows Bible Study for U dear? "Always Been Light", maybe, but who said that as well, U??? Ok, I'll play Ur "Scientific Proof Game" and say YES, God Did Create Light! There, happy now??? No? U don't buy it that God created Light? Why, because that means there is a God & "He" Created Everything??? Too bad cause He Did Create LIGHT JUST AS THE BIBLE SAYS!!! The "Account" acknowledges "Visible Light", that Humans, (Un-Assisted) could "See" at the Time the Bible was written!!! Oops! So like... IF, (BIG IF) God IS a "Form of Light" as U "Infer", (Not Quite That Simple Though) perhaps, He is NOT Of the "Visible Spectrum"? Or have U already "Tested" for that??? While Ur still "Testing" run one on Urself, cause I'm pretty sure U exist & Ur Not "Made of Light" ("So how can something not made of light exist?" (Ur quote)) Now, Now there, don't take it so hard, many many before U have Honestly asked this question as well. Just shows "Mans Thinking" (Women Too) will Never be Capable to Comprehend God until we are "Face to Face with "Him" in Heaven"!!! So while Ur studying the Scriptures Daily, be sure to read up on how to get Ur "Ticket to Heaven" ok??? John

God is EVERYTHING, including light. Don't know where the paradox came from but it is a riddle into itself. God created Light for the World and so He must have had light or he wouldn't have made it? Just because you have light in the kitchen and not the bedroom doesn't mean YOU don't exist. lol. You have to bring light to the bedroom. :) How can you make something you have no knowledge of? You can't! So He must have had knowledge. Thanks for the question, and have a great day!!

GOD is not made of light. In God, there is no darkness, the bible says. So there is no evil in God, is what that means to me. There's not even a shadow of selfihness or cruelty or any evil at all.
God is love, the bible says that too. (Sorry, I'm not good at memorizing the verses--I'm sure it's New Testament.) This does not mean human love which is inconsistent and unfair. God loves us unconditionally, but also is extremely fair and just. So, we often get our just rewards for our evil or selfish deeds, not because God is punishing us, but because He lets the natural consequences happen to teach us. If God treated us as babies, then we would never mature. We can be little baby Christians even after forty years of faith, but God doesn't really want that, any more than we would want our sons and daughters to keep acting like toddlers when they are forty!
God is everywhere. I like to say God is like gravity, He is everywhere all the time. If you don't believe in gravity, you still don't go floating off into space. But God doesn't force us, either. A person has to believe and ASK God into their heart and then He will come and abide in them and they abide in God. It still takes time to grow up. Even Mother Teresa (I loved her, so don't get me wrong) still had things to learn. Jesus was the only perfect human, being the Son of God.
I am glad you are asking questions and learning. I'm still learning too. Feel free to contact me if you want. But more important, read it for yourself. Get a bible written in easy to understand language. You may never understand all of it, but you will start to understand more and more. Mark parts that mean a lot to you and make a note of what is confusing to ask someone. God will help you to understand what you need to know. So don't get stuck on some little point that maybe isn't even relevant.
Live a good life, love deep and do good.

Matter energy space and time comprise the material world. God manifests in the material world but is not limited to it. If you write a story you create everything in the story. You can even put your concept of yourself into the story but you will always be outside the story to a greater extent.
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by God; and without God was not any thing made that was made. In the word was life"

"Creation" refers to the act of God creating the universe and all that is in it. He "created" light in that he brought it into the universe and harnessed it in bodies like the sun, moon, and stars.
God is also the source of all light and it compared to light because "in Him there is no darkness." That is a metaphor and not saying that God is in actuality "light." God is spirit.
God has always existed and did not need the space of the universe in order to have a place to reside. Since all light comes from God, you are correct in saying that light has always existed, but the universe has not--light did not come to the universe until God brought it there and created it.

I think the light of God has less to do with physical light and more to do with enlightenment, the light of knowledge. The difference is that when he created light, He created physical light. But when they say He is the light of the world, they are referring to knowledge and spiritual awakening.
But, I'm not a Christian.

the Bible says that god spoke, " Let there be light", If we are going on your style of stretching words, let me make the assuption, that God is Light and infinite, and there always was light. However, on that day, God directed the light to our universe and set it there, where it had never been before. TaDa!! From there, let's assume that the rest of the Bible is also true. K?

There are different kinds of light. Created and uncreated. There are different kinds of light here on earth - reflected refracted etc, He just did it. Before the sun and the moon and the stars were made too. An Awesome God. Awesome!

Basically we use the term light to explain how God opens our minds to know Him better and to understand His revealed will, God is infinitely more than light, what He is in Himself, we cannot fully understand.
If god created light(as it say`s in Genesis) then He cannot be light as this would be a contradiction in terms, it is more correct to say that God is pure spirit both uncreated and infinite.
