I saw this on some internet site (jumplikevinceDOTcom). It said that because when you lift weights you put on muscle weights and its slows you down. But i thought it gives you more power.

Lifting weights makes you bigger, faster, stronger, and more athletic. Of course you will jump higher. Actually, by doing full squats, deadlifts, and variations, you will be jumping higher than you ever thought you could. However, if you only lift upper body and neglect your muscles on your lower half (quads, hamstrings, glutes, lower back, and calves) you will probably get slower.

Have you ever seen how high good olympic lifters can jump? They jump VERY high because they are strong. If you want to have a high vertical leap, you'll have to increase your relative strength. That is, squat 1.5x your bodyweight or more, and you should be jumping pretty high.

Hahahaha... what??? People are nuts. If you want to jump high you need to focus on explosion movements. Clean, deadlifts, hack squat sled. Muscle will not slow you from dunking, but weight will. Keep you bf% down and combine good cardio with proper weight lifting and you will be set. Also look into pylometrics.

lol...I hope vince kept his day job!

resistance training has the exact opposite effect of what vince is preaching. Muscle is fired or triggered by electrical stimulus, this is known as reflex action. The greater amount of muscle firing in unison the greater the overall response which equals an increase in speed as well as strength
