Yes, actually, I can. I want to learn about people's beliefs to find out why they do what they do. That is one of my joys in life.

I can honestly say that I keep an open mind about lifestyles and religious beliefs. I am a card carrying nudist and a swinger, a Republican, an NRA member, a golfer, gun collector and canoeist. Have read and studied many religions and personally don't follow any organized religion. I am straight but have no problem with gays and lesbians. I am retired Military and presently work with the handicapped in a non profit agency. I have been poor but know to most standards I am rich.
Even though all of the above is true I have little tolerance with groups of religious fanatics raising hell with society with murder and suicides. Don't know if I fully answered your question or not but there it is.

Yes. I honestly don't care what other people think or do as long as they don't screw with me or my beliefs. For instance, I don't care if someone is homosexual or not, but I draw the line at gays in the military and allowing gays to marry, because you are then screwing with me, since I am currently serving in the military, and I believe that marriage is a sacred rite (not a right, which is different) that is ordained by God. Now, I will concede that a legally binding contract would be acceptable, but I can't see it being legally called a marriage.

Or, take Mormons. I have heard they believe in some really wacky things, but the ones I've met have been some of the most decent and caring people I've ever met, and their community bond and family values are exemplary. None have tried too hard to convert me, and I'm not in the business of converting them to my beliefs, so we've gotten along pretty well, and I personally don't care if they think Jesus was an alien sent from Pluto (not saying they do, just saying as an example), because we treat each other with respect.

I do NOT have an open mind. If I did, that would allow anything and everything to come in. I don't like to allow others or outside influences to control what I think. Does that mean that I ignore everything and everyone and run headlong into disaster? NO! It just means that I guard the door very carefully.

I DO however, have an open mind when I am making important decisions regarding what I believe. I like to examine all the evidence and all the facts then form an opinion/belief. At which point, I close my mind again.

If I later see what appears to be credible proof that I'm wrong, I will investigate it and re-evaluate my prior decision.

I think most people are closed minded, but are unaware of it or are unwilling to admit it.

Lifestyle?, absolutely, religious beliefs, keep them out of my life and my schools and governments. Other than that believe in whatever weirdo things you like.

I try but when the majority of a certain type of person I encounter act/judge/talk a certain way it sets a norm for the rest of that type of person. (Sometimes I meet a really down to Earth, open-minded and accepting bible thumper...LOL)
