Your overheating problem could be due to one, or both of the radiator cooling fans not working due to a burned out resistor, located on the fan shroud that controls your LOW speed and HIGH speed. As for the rough idle, take it to your nearest Ford dealer and request to have your VIN run through OASIS to check for an outstanding Field Service Action 03N01, which is an updated fuel pump to be installed. I recommend replacing the fuel filter while this service action is being carried out as well. Hope this helps.

Is the check engine light on? We found several of these vehicles that had a hole melted in the back of the composite intake manifold causing a vacuum leak, rough idle and a lean condition. The hole is close to where the EGR tube feed into the intake manifold, the exhaust was hot enough to melt the plastic.
