You are right about China:
"China overtook the United States in carbon dioxide emissions by about 7.5 percent in 2006, according to the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency's report. While China was 2 percent below the U.S. in carbon dioxide emissions in 2005, voracious coal consumption and increased cement production caused the numbers to rise rapidly, the agency said." -Washington Post
Still relatively low per person when compared to the United States given the large population of China.

Hmm. I picked China as the biggest emitter of GHG's. I guess they haven't updated that. Thanks for the link. :)
grizzbr1: I remember hearing about the plane trails before. Here is a link that I found. http://archives.cnn.com/2002/TECH/science/08/07/contrails.climate/ I think that you might find it interesting.

Did the quiz, thanks for the link to it.
Re Question 2 - China / US emissions. The question was which country is the biggest emitter of GREENHOUSE GASES, to which the answer is the US. Had the question been which country is the largest emitter or CARBON DIOXIDE the answer could be either China or the US.
Re Question 6 - Atmospheric lifespan of CO2. The nearest multiple choice answer is 100 years, the actual lifespan is 115 years (explained in detail in one of my previous answers if you want to look it up for more info).
At the moment we don't know whether the US or China is the largest CO2 emitter. China doesn't release figures so we have to estimate, the report from the NEEA is based on two estimates. One from British Petroleum estimates the total fossil fuels burned in China and the other from the USGS estimates total cement production, no other factors were taken into account. China may have surpassed the US some time ago or it may have a way still to go. One thing for certain, China will become the world's biggest polluter both of carbon dioxide and total greenhouse gases unless it implements reduction strategies.

Your little quiz was doing so well until question 7...
Which animal do scientists currently consider at highest risk of extinction due to global warming?
Their answer? Polar bears. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. You'd think a respected publication such as National Geographic would not be taken in by such Global Warming Alarmist (GWA) scaremongering.
The truth is, of course, that polar bears are doing fine. Have a look at this... http://meteo.lcd.lu/globalwarming/Taylor/last_stand_of_our_wild_polar_bears.html It's an article by Dr. Mitchell Taylor, a scientist who has spent a lifetime studying polar bears. He has this to say...
"Of the 13 populations of polar bears in Canada , 11 are stable or increasing in number. They are not going extinct, or even appear to be affected at present... it is just silly to predict the demise of polar bears in 25 years based on media-assisted hysteria."
I was also amused by question 3:
Which planet's poisonous atmosphere has been described as the product of a "runaway greenhouse effect"?
Answer Venus.
The obvious implication being that the same could happen here. So, the GWAs are now suggesting that the Earth might also reach temperatures of 477°C, are they?
And question 9: A rise in global temperature is expected to increase instances of malaria. This is striaght out of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, isn't it? It was no more true when he lied about it either!
So, we now have global warming alarmism in the form a "fun quiz" in a further attempt to brainwash the public. Wonderful!
As ever with global warming - don't believe the hype.

Actually the second question isn't quite correct - China is now expected to surpass the US in greenhouse gas emissions this year

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/object/article?f=/c/a/2007/03/05/MNG18OFHF21.DTL&o=2
But otherwise this is an accurate quiz. Far more accurate than the one linked earlier today. I learned that CO2 has a 100 year lifetime in the atmosphere - I thought it was more like 25 years.

I've seen this quiz before. The only question that the answer really suprised me was the one (#10) that asks about time of day effects of flying on global warming. I expect the effect they cite is not nearly enough to offset the damage caused, but I never thought of reflectivity of contrails before.
That is cool. Anything that expands my knowledge is cool.
