Okay My parents were paying for my college but stopped, I ended up owing my university 8,000. I didnt take the money out in student loans so I dont owe that. Im wondering will the military pay for my 8,000 to the school even though it is not a loan just a debt?

That is something you will have to ask the National Guard recruiter. Some states will repay student loans, some don't. Some secure a new student loan, some won't. Some pay tuition and fees, some don't. It is up to each state what enlistment bonuses they offer and that includes the student debt things. I would say probably not since the non-loan programs are for going to college now or future, not past. But in the Guard you are earning another paycheck so you will at least have some extra income to pay it back with. If you go in enlisted, when you go through boot camp (BCT) and training school (AIT), you will earn around $1200 per month (before taxes) if they take you in at E-1. If they give you E-3 because of college time, JROTC from H.S. or other things (recruiter can tell you), you can get $1500 (before taxes) per month while on full time status. And they are housing and feeding you during BCT and AIT, so you can put that to your debt. When you come back out into Guard you get a "drill pay" that amounts to 4 days' active duty pay each month you attend drill. So that would be about $200 for an E-3. If you go in officer (you have to have received your Bachelor's degree already), I don't know how long the officer basic and skill field trainings are or at what rank you are paid while you are going through. A second lieutenant (O-1) gets paid $2416 per month, I would think you would receive that rank upon graduation of officer basic at least. So your drill pay would be about $360 per month.

Your figures are way out of date. See the link. The national debt is $15.6 Trillion. Of that $4.7 Trillion is owed to the gov't itself. Using that same tool, the day before Obama was inaugurated, those numbers were $10.6 Trillion and $4.3 Trillion respectively. That means Obama has borrowed another $4.6 Trillion from the Bank of China (as he put it) in 3 1/2 years. Unless Obama stops putting off those "tough choices" he keeps telling us about, that debt owed to the public will continue to skyrocket while the debt owed to the gov't will start going down as we have to start using that to pay for the SS benefits it was being saved for.

Hello! I think that you need to talk to your a Retention NCO(non-commissioner officer) or Career Counselor. This people will answer that question for you. You can call the unit where you are going to be assign and ask for them. That's the best think you can do since they are not trying to get people in they are trying to help them to get the best job possible in the service. Good luck.

Sgt Sequeira I know a career counselor if you need his phone number let me and send your e-mail address so i can give it to you.
