I've had my belly button pierced for 5 years. I'm very happy with it. I changed the jewelry all the time to match whatever I'm wearing. Belly button piercings are cute and sexy. But here are some cons for you to consider... sometimes belly button rings migrate. If you ever decide to take your belly button ring out and let it close, you'll have scar tissue. But with any piercing you'll have that. If you're skin is sensitive you can have a reaction to the type of jewelry you're using. But again with any piercing you will have that. So I say go for it! It's not that painful. Hope I could help! Good luck! :) It'll look cute!
P.s. Go to a professional piercer! I can't stress that enough!

There really aren't any "pros" to it, its purely an aesthetic thing. Some people just like the way it looks. When I think of Pros and Cons, I try to think of reasons to get it, and the only reason I can think of anyone wanting ANY piercing is "because I like how it looks".
Cons, however, are a little easier to find - cost of getting it done, new jewelry, care for a new piercing, possibility of infection, possibility of your body rejecting it and pushing the jewelry out, possibility of not being able to wear it if you gain weight or get pregnant, etc...

when a trim girl has a bellybutton piercing it draws attention to the stomache and possible hour glass shape for a rather weak in the knees effect. ;-) Haha
I'm a slave to the bellybutton piercing.

I have one - I think they are beautiful and sexy.
But if you get one - it has to be for yourself!
I don't show mine off - only when I wear a bathing suit.
The benefit is, they come out! It's not a permanent fixture on your body like a tattoo, so try it out! If you don't like it, take it out!

Pro - its cute
Con - very easily infected, can get pulled easily, never really heals
