Help. Why do people regret having sex in high school?

I love my boyfriend more than anything else and I'm ready to have sex, but my mind keeps going to people who say they regret sex in high school, why? I don't get it

I don't believe everyone regrets having sex in high school. Some may because they realized afterwards that it was a poor decision, they jumped too quick, they were drunk or they did it for all the wrong reasons (my friends are doing it, so should I).

If you are ready and this is what you really want then don't let other people's mistakes stop you. It's not a regret that everyone has.

Most people don't do it for the right reasons. They just end up having sex because it is the thing to do and the thing you have to do to be 'accepted.' I had sex my senior year of high school with the man I love and want to spend the rest of my life with. I think the people who regret it ended up just giving into the pressure and doing it with whoever was willing. If you love him, go ahead and have sex, if you aren't sure and still have these doubts (it doesn't mean you don't love him) then just take a step back and think over the situation. If you still want to do it in about a month then go ahead.

Because you risk getting pregnant even when using a condem and you may end up losing this person because they aren't interested in a long term relationship. I had sex while in high school and I regret it I lost the girl I really cared about becaue we really weren't ready even though we thought we were. Because when you mature and really find what true love is, you reliaze that sex was a gift that you can only give away for the first time once, and how special it is. Then you regret not saving it for the true love of your life, someone that really means something in a mature way to you. First time sex is a gift that you can never get back, no matter how much you wish you could.... Remember that before you do it.

Its not so much that people regret having sex in high school as it is simply regretting giving their virginity to a certain person. I can pretty much guarantee that no matter how much you love your boyfriend, unless you guys really (however unlikely) make it through and get married, you will regret losing your virginity to him later. Just make sure its YOUR choice, and not at all pressured by any other outside sources (ie friends, boyfriend...).

i did it in high school and i don't regret it at all but that's because i was with somebody really special who i loved more than anything and vice versa. i was ready and i felt no pressure from him or anyone else. make no mistake though, i did think about the decision very hard for several months. i thought about my future and how it could impact that if something went wrong or the fact that he might turn out not to be the one i wanted to have my frist time with. you never know while you're in the moment. hindsight is 20/20. i think people regret doing it in high school because they did it for the wrong reasons or after they broke up with that person they realised that that's not the person they wanted to give their first time to and realise how immature they were at that age. but if you have really searched your soul and thought about it seriously in context of the present and the future and you still think you're ready...then go for it.

You say you are ready,but HOW do you know. If you were ready, you would have done it already. Sex is the only thing guys in HS want. I think you aren't ready and you just want ppl to back you up. Look elsewhere for support.

It's not until after you're out of h.s., that you realize how different of a person you really are. Most people evolve a great deal once they go to college and thus look back at ex's and ponder why they even dated them, let along slept with them (this isn't just about h.s. bf's it's pretty much with all ex's in general). Also, gossip in h.s. is huge, so stuff tends to get leaked, which can lead to certain unnecessary reputations being formed. I did a lot of stupid stuff in h.s. Stuff to be cool, impress others, out of boredom, to bring shock value, to rebel, out of curiousity. Fortunately (for me at least) sex wasn't one of them.

Your question is a good one, though. It shows you have some depth and are philisphical. What is your stance of the issue of regret. Do you regret things you've done in the past? Things you haven't done? Or do you go with the flow as life hands it to you and accept everything you have experienced.

Answer those questions to yourself, and you have your real answer. Also, do not have sex just because
1) you feel left out (because everyone else is doing it)
2) he really wants to
3) it's the next step or
4) you want to prove to him that you love him.

Have sex if you want to, because you trust him, because it feels like the natural thing to do.

Some people regret having sex in high school because they end up breaking up with their high school sweet heart, and meet their soul mate. After meeting their soul mate, they think..wow i shouldnt have had sex with that previous guy, because this man here is my true love. But my advice to you, is if you truly think this boyfriend of yours is going to be in your future, and you are ready for it...then go for it. Live your life with no regrets...because at one time, it was exactly what you wanted.

I actually don't regret too many things I have done in the past.....everything we do in life teaches us a lesson!...good or bad!!! Only thing about sex in high school is it can lead up to so many other things......diseases, including aids, pregnancy, etc. That is the part that so many people regret!!! You have to weigh out the possibilities....sex can be great during highschool.....Telling your friends that you went all the way might be exciting.......telling your friends that you are HIV positive or pregnant might not be sooooo exciting!!!
