YES... it can cause heart damage. Toxins running thru your body from the infection isn't good either.
I wish her a speedy recovery!

Yes, this probably caused it. An abscess puts bacteria straight into the bloodstream the more infected the more bacteria released into the bloodstream. This also travels around the body and can cause heart problems/etc. But people w/ heart problems are at a much higher risk. This can also swell enough to cut off your air way, etc.

An abscess is an infection. Like an other infection, it can lead to other, more SERIOUS problems, including death.

She needs to see a dentist asap who will likely put her on
antibiotics to treat the infection, then he can treat the problem
that is causing the infection. Antibiotics alone will NOT solve the problem!

Good Luck!

The term of "General Health" is an open-end terminology. Unless you can streamline it, it cannot be used as criteria for comparison. Also, usually the "General Health Problems" have a specific underlying specific health issue from one of the organs. However, the "Oral Health" have many impacts on "General Health" concept, including stroke, heart attack, poorly controlled diabetes, and preterm labor. Poor oral health also may have impact on digestions system. There are many research reports which conclude a healthy mouth help you protect against medical disorders. I have provided a couple of easy reading article as reference for you (see below URLs). Personal Experience --- A good friend of mine who is only 31 years old, had a sever stroke on Christmas to the point that she has been paralyzed (the right side of her body). She was fit, slim, active and healthy. The diagnosis was that her stroke was caused by oral health concern!..!!

Any type of mouth infection is systemic, meaning it runs through your whole system. In fact many people don't know that untreated dental infection is directly linked to heart disease. Get it treated soon. Good luck.
