As a Christian, I will agree with you. Bible quotes tend to not answer questions. I try to not use the Bible unless I absolutely have to, or if someone asks a question directly pertaining to something in the Bible.

So what do you want?

Should they ban The Bible and Christianity from the Religion & Spirituality section?

Or should they create a section just for you with only you on it?

Either way you wouldn't get those answers that so annoy you.

I don't follow you.

Your previous question received 39 answers. I only saw one answer on there that included a long Bible passage -- and actually, it wasn't really that long.

None of the other 39 answers (unless I missed something) quoted the Bible at all.

Those who rely on Biblical passages don't really have an answer. Quoting the Bible is not answering your question. Those who use the Bible crutch are not learned in systematic theology and religious thought or Christian history and Biblical interpretation.

If you ask a religious question, the bible is a religious guidebook where the answers can be found. I agree that some answers can be a bit long but I'm sure they have good intentions.

(I did the same as williamzo, so I gave him a thumbs up in agreement)

Because a lot of the people around here are incapable of thinking for themselves.
But to be fair i've seen a lot of Atheits sticking in quotes from Atheist authors.

I don't answer with long passages and I do not quote the Bible to the ones who do not take it as God's Word. What's your question?

I think maybe people are trying to show you where they're getting the answer from--so you can follow up and verify what they are telling you. Maybe next time you ask a question, just specify that you would like your answer in layman's terms.

It means you're asking good questions. This is a natural response from some theists when they really don't have a clue. They just start babbling Scriptural passages as a smokescreen, in the hope that the questioner will give up and go away.

It's like mumbling a mantra.

Simply ask that all persons responding do so in their own words and refrain from quoting scripture. Most people will honor this request if you ask politely. It always works for me.
