They make the choice to relinquish control to a higher power. Also referred to as the "Guru Syndrome", it is a common trait in humanity to seek a leader, to want to be told what to do and think. It is one of the ironies of "free will" that "people in religion" give up so much of it.

Belief in a religion does not take away free will. Free will is the ability to make a moral choice, and then deal with the consequences (good or bad) of that decision. So choosing to believe in a religion is free will.
Once a person believes, their free will remains in that each moment they have the ability to continue in that belief or not, to do what the beliefs says they should or not, to rebel against that belief or not. No free will is lost by believing in a religion.
Rather a moral compass and guideline is found which allows you to use your free will in a way that brings blessing to yourself and those around you by showing you which decisions to make so that you get the good consequences.

First why do you call yourself a prophet yet question God? Free is was given when jesus died on the Cross for our faults. He took all our sins with him so that when he resurrect we resurrect with him, so our sins went down and then arose with free will to decide which one you will serve. The bible says you can not serve two Gods, it also says let your yes be yes or your no be no, so you need to decide your free will in God, and yes it will separate you from the form of the world Roman 12: 1-3 tells us not to do what we once did but be renewed in your mind, another words when you pick which side you are on and hopefully that is with Jesus, dont think the way your thinking now think as Christ would think never in doubt, or in question, but sure with your faith that will bring forth wisdom and fear of God, always walk in Love and humility and you will see some much more in the spiritual than in the natural, as for having control of our life proverbs says that the heart of mans direction is his own but that God will guide us in the way we should go, it is having wisdom and knowing that we are more than conquers, and using wisdom is having control over our lifes, it is when you dont use wisdom and get into trouble or make a bad decission that you lose control

More specifically, it is the belief in choice, not free-will. It is choice that truly separates humanity from other forms of life. It is choice that is God's gift.
Instead of completely free-will, I believe God gives us the opportunity (our choice) to devote our lives to his purpose.
To address the "lack of proof" for His promises, isn't that what faith is all about - believing in something we cannot see nor prove?

Free will doesn't mean free from consequences. Christians know that God gives us the choice to follow him or not. There are some Christians who forget that God grants free will to everyone. You do not have to believe in God or any other religion. It's your life to live as you wish. God only says there will be a day of judgement and everyone will have to answer for his or her choices.
This is my belief because it is what i read in God's word, but you have free will to agree or disagree, believe or disbelieve.
When you make your choice, please accept that i have made mine also.

The choice is not made in religion but in following Jesus.
Do the possibilities of lies and deception just make you do the "potty dance" and leave you angry?...if so you should feel the same way about so-called science and the theory of evolution.
God gave us free will. In a sense, He gave you your free will so you could CHOOSE not to follow Him or believe that Jesus is Lord and Savior...
...Wow that says alot

Well, it all brings to mind that your faith is your freedom. There is a point where religion is taken too far and a part where you faith is not taken far enough. Free will is a gift that is given to all of us if only we just keep it right and realize that we all have a short time on this planet. God Bless.

We have a choice to say that we haven't heard the truth, to lie against it. But, since God is, and since he calls us, then we have a choice to believe that we are sinners and that our sin has separated us from him, and to be reconciled back to him by the sacrifice that Jesus made, by the blood of the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

We have more control than most..think about it... we observe the scriptures and by the guiding of the Holy Spirit we follow them......it takes more control to obey than to just live a life without conscience...
