What is your purpose in heaven. If you think life doesn't have a purpose without it, what is the great thing you would do there. Seems to me there isn't any.

This exact question has been asked of us HUNDREDS of times. What is our purpose in life without god or and afterlife

I'm sorry, again I still don't feel anyone has really answered the question.
I think most of you have never really thought about this. Many of you think life and the afterlife are about praising god? That has meaning? Some say it will be like a paradise, would people change there nature and wouldn't there be confilct, because that is our nature.

Well I'm not sure what all this "you all talk" business is about, but Heaven is not a state of existence directly analogous to the current one. It is a timeless kind of eternity - yesterday is tomorrow, today is yesterday, and tomorrow is today.

And we will spend eternity worshipping God. In God's presence, nothing else is needed. The heavenly banquet will be the culmination of all existence, the satisfaction of all longing, the living water that quenches all thirst.

"Purpose" in such a context is utterly irrelevant. Without the passage of time, all the temporal implications of the word "purpose", such as movement, the pursuit of goals, etc. would simply have no meaning. There is no tomorrow to have plans for, no difference in yourself that has to be accomplished and achieved. Temporal things such as "purposes" will have long passed away, as all purposes will have been fully accomplished at the end of the age.

Well first of all we have to come to the conclusion that heaven is a reality. This is provided to us in the Bible which is full of eye witness accounts of activities and statements on all kinds of subjects. So much has been proven about Jesus and the accounts in the Bible that one can not discard them as false.

That said we also are told that there will be mansions (homes) for us, streets, rivers, and much more. We are also told that our concept of things to be from our experience on earth can not be fully complete. We will get to talk with God and Jesus Christ and are told that we will recognize our loved ones, etc.. So while we don't know or understand all that will take place when we get there, we do know that it will be beautiful, wonderfull and perfect. The alternative is interpeted in so many ways but none of which are desirable.

So what does this give us for a purpose in the "life" moments we have here today? Look around you at all that is going on in this world with war, crime, genocide and much more. Every person you see is loved by God and we have a tremendous purpose and activity in our lives as Christians simply to share that message of God's love, what it means to us, what it has done for our lives and why we feel the way we do. Our hope and prayers and purpose in this life are that we can somehow help others to share in all that we have. That takes hold of all of our life. Don't mistake me to mean we don't make mistakes and mess things up because we do but we are here and working to share. When I get to heaven I will worship and give thanks to God for His love and forgiviness and to Jesus for all that he went through for each one of us, and I am sure what ever else that will be going on will be just right and full of reason and purpose.

Hope that helps.

Well, first, we don't ALL talk about our life having no meaning without Heaven. But I guess you're talking about God's promise that we will be with him in Paradise - after we die or he comes again.

Life has meaning if we live as He would have us live, including witnessing to people like you who claim to not need him. Sorry that you have such a high opinion of yourself and what you think would be pleasurable for Eternity.

I happen to not be one of those Christian's who believe that Heaven with be like one big, continuous church service, and I suspect that He will allow us human-life-type pleasures. But I believe that eternity will at least include some church-like activity, since I happen to enjoy those on a regular basis. But I also believe that being close to God and his believers will also be an important part of eternal happiness.

Regarding More Details: The fact that you don't like or agree with the answers doesn't mean that your question hasn't been answered.

My future home is in heaven, but that is not the meaning or purpose of my life- My purpose is to glorify God while here on earth, and the when I do reach heaven, I will worship Him and serve Him forever there. Granted as a Christian, heaven is my destination, but the journey to get there must be to glorify God in all I do.

Who knows what Heaven will be like, and what my purpose will be, but as for not having meaning in life without it is a bunch of bull. I'll change the world for the better while I'm here.

Jesus give us meaning through his spirit. Heaven is the reward for the experiences we have serving the master of life. There is no meaning without God! What one believes in his or her heart does not insult God,he is most patient and loving. Say what you will about a Christian, but God does not applaud you.

First of all which one do you prefer?

1. Heaven where there is NO sadness, hurt or tragedy.
2. Hell where there IS tragedy and suffering.

God gives us all eternal life. Whether it's heaven or hell. And of course people will chose to go with GOD. His son died for us on the cross so we can seek GOD and some day go with him in heaven. It's like throwing an invitation to heaven.

To be with the Creator is reward enough as He is Ultimate Love, He has made a promise of eternal life with the desires of our hearts "perfected", and being the Perfect Father has many gifts of His Love and Perfection to shower on His children "forever".

I'd say "that's worth" the wait while going through the "torments" of this imperfect world.

Life has no meaning apart from Christ, apart from God. Heaven is not life's purpose. I have never heard a Christian say that their life would have no meaning without Heaven. Not sure where you got your info.

The great thing to do IN HEAVEN is to behold my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and see Him in His beauty and might and very essence. I will be able to touch Him, see Him. What an awesome day that will be.

Christ is life; He is the meaning and purpose.

Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Psalms 73:25-26 ESV

It is a wonderful goal, and something to look forward to, but I don't always talk about it, unless someone asks. (refer to one of my answers on what heaven is like.)

My prayer, "Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done... "
I try to make it as heavenly here for others, as possible. I think here and now, can be the next heaven if we all just work at it. Even if some of us try, it makes it tolerable for us. Without that vision, "the people perish." I think that most people try, it's just that we don't know how, and we are learning. But if we keep the focus on what is in that better place, we can try to mimic it for us here and now. It is a worthy goal, as well as a standard to live by.

God enjoys His creation, We will enjoy our creation.

Along with other things we will do, is to send good thoughts your way.
Einstein knew the things he was thinking didn't come from him. Tesla thought as much. They knew the thoughts were coming from a higher source. Writers and artists from all walks of life have drawn on other people living on the other side. We will not be oblivous to the things happening in the place we spent our nights weeping over. We will also, know about other places to go see and work too. Busy as a bee we will be.

The other place ('hell') will be for those that God wants to be busy doing something other than sending their kind of thoughts your way. Their pain is your gain.
