You can take a shortcut any time you like. Personally I'd like to enjoy the journey and take my time...
Why does there have to be a reason?

We are on this journey because our destination is not death. If your destination was death then you would have no destiny and there would be no journey..
Ever wondered if the word destination derives from the word destiny...?

Your destination is not death, it is merely a rest stop on the journey. The journey before death is to prepare you for the journey beyond death.

In the bible book of genesis, we read about the creation of the first man ADAM, who was made with a perfect body and mind, never to become sick, grow old or die.
Adam was given the choice of free will, he was not a machine that functioned as programmed, but was an intelligent creature, able to choose right or wrong. RIGHT, in this case was obedience to God; WRONG, was disobedience. Adam was disobedient and condemned to death which was passed on to us [romans 5:12] Yep, we all inherited sin from Adam, thus our journey began...but not without hope for the future...thru Jesus Christ, who traded His perfect life for the perfect life that Adam threw away.
All is not hopeless!

Again, speaking of the future is meaningless. There is no destination, only the journey of the eternal now.

I believe there is a purpose to existence.....the universe, the planets, our earth with us in it, and for some reason to discusse and experience all the variety of thoughts as on this forum. I also believe the pattern we see in the plant, animal, and human environment has a purpose and exists for some eternal eternal progressive purpose. There seems to be some common fraternal pattern with certain emotions that extend beyond pure biological (evolutionary) causes. We exist and it is just as easy to believe we will always exist as to belive we will not exist when we die. I just have a deep feeling that we will exist after we die. It makes more sense as to the reason why there is any existence at all. Why have existence, to experience this existence, and then not existence? This does not satisfy my mind as to why there is any existence at all. I chose "to be" rather than "not to be" as to the answer to that question.

God created this world for us. We are on this journey to enjoy His gifts and to work in partnership with Him to finish His creations and to bring peace on earth.

To teach, to learn, to transcend, to have some frolicking fun, to have an adventure. It's the same reason why we go on class trips, vacations, or take a foreign assignment, etc.
