Hey guys, I'm 13 years old and I want to get my belly button pierced when I go down to Ocean City MD for the 4th of July. I've heard so many stories of it hurting and stuff like that. I have a tolerance for pain seeing as my chin has been cut open and my arm has been split open and I think some vains were cut open too. I have 6 piercings in my ear. My first and second holes, third hole in my right ear and my right ear cartlige pierced. My question is, will it hurt as much as those? What does if feel like and what can I do to make it not hurt as much? How long after you get it pierced will it stop hurting? It would really mean a lot to me if you guys could please tell me all I need to know!
Thanks! You guys r the best!

Honestly, I got my ears pierced in the 8th grade and cried my eyes out in pain.
I got my belly button done in the 10 and and it wasn't even close to the pain i thought it was.
when doing it once the needle goes thru the only time it hurts is feeling your skin squeezing together. and a couple months after that it is numb cause it is an open wound healing. But in the end you are like"WOW" it doesn't even hurt!!
But other than that I love it! And it really didn't hurt that bad hun.. <33

It really doesnt hurt as the second hole in your ear (well at least mine). The part that is troublesome is when it is healing. It hurts when you move and stuff, but not really all that bad you just dont want anything really touching it until it fully heals (and I dont recall how long that is because mine has been pierced for awhile). Just make sure you keep it clean because if you let it get infected, you are in for a world of pain!! You'll be okay

When I had mine done, it didn't hurt at all. It was too quick to have a chance to hurt. It was a bit sore later, for awhile, but if you are careful not to wear tight waistbands or anything that constricts it until it's healed, you should be fine. It does take longer to fully heal than an ear lobe piercing, but if you clean it several times a day with antibacterial soap, use the stuff the salon recommends, and turn the ring so it won't have a chance to stick, it should heal fully.

mine quit hurting after a month, but it was sore for a while. it didn't hurt when i got it pierced, just for a few days after. make sure that about an hour before you have it done you take an alieve (it stops the swelling, and helps relieve pain) and carry around a small supply of dial anti-bacterial hand soap and neosporin. and no matter what anybody tells you, do NOT use peroxide, rubbing alcohol, or sea salt, all it does is keep the piercing from scabbing over, so it takes long to heal. hope this helps, good luck your going to love it!!

You're shoving a large needle through your abdomen, so yeah, it's going to hurt. General rule is if the area is ticklish, there are many nerve endings there, so it's going to hurt more.

No reputable piercing shop is going to do this for you though, since you're under 18. And any place that does agree to go through with it, is directly violating their license (assuming they have one) and in my eyes no longer be considered reputable.

If you do decide to go through with it, make sure everything is brand new and sterilized. The needle will be in a packaging. If it's not, leave immediately.

Also, it's true that you can't go swimming for a few months after you get it pierced (chlorine in pool and salt/bacteria in the ocean can cause nasty infections/irritation). My advice is to not do this in the summer and wait until the winter.

ive heard it doesnt hurt much. My friend got hers pierced and she said she didnt even realize when they pierced it cuz she was closing her eyes. Supposably it hurts for about 2 weeks or so, but you can spray it with some special solution and it will reduce the ache.

The only bad thing about getting your belly button pierced during summer though is that you ant go swimming with it. Thats why my friend got it done before summer, so that her belllybutton would heal before seimming time.

Well, good luck, i would say go for it....i want my bellybutton pierced too!!

it doesn't hurt much at all when you get it done...just feels like a pinch. make sure you ice it for awhile for the first couple days and it won't swell much. after that, while it's still healing, it'll hurt and pus a little, but just keep it clean and don't mess with it too much and it'll be alright

to let you know it relly hurts and pusses when it is healing. but it is a cool piercing. i would wait a little more because the person can get arested for piercing a child (that is not their ears).

i watched while my daughter had hers done 2 months ago, she never even flinched. Use a good "artist" to have it done. But remember this, NO SWIMMING fo up to 6 months till it heals. It isn't like getting your ear done. It has to be treated everyday by soaking with water and sea salt. Be careful!!

My wife said her earings hurt worse. it is a sharp pain for a few moments then it goes away, and you usually wont be bothered by the next day unless you catch it on something!
