Well if its your parents you need to show them you are responsible, and start volunteering at a humane society or animal shelter. Do more to help your parents around the house and so on... If its a spouse or partner, you really cannot convince them, You can tell them you would like one and you plan to get one. If the person has an allergy, or a fear of the animal in question, then you should not get one. If the other person is going to have to be financially responsible, or actually do the work , then its for them to decide if they wasnt that commitment. A dog is a huge responsibility and you both need to be willing!! Good luck!!

Hi, I would start with being totally honest and upfront. Ask them if they would ever be willing, under any circumstances to allow you to get a dog. Then ask what size they would consider and if it could be a puppy or not. Then straight out, ask what would I need to do, starting now, to make that happen?
That way your are being respectful of them and yourself, you are not being hedgy and you are stating your want clearly, and indicating that you are both open to negotiation, and to working for what you want.

You don't! It has to be a family decision, not just one person. They never take care of it like they say they will!!! It affects the entire family. When you get your own place then you can do what YOU want to do.

like your parents? it depends who it is but my mom wont do anything fort me unless its for school or it helps me. friends? company? do you get scared during the night? have it turn into something good. or give them a whole bunch of reasons like you can breed them and sell the puppies or if you have a science project you can have that something to do with it.

maybe you should research a specific breed you want or give reasons as to why you deserve a dog. adopt a mutt :] hope it works.

show that you are really responsible, tell them it will make you more happy like a pale that you can talk to you. thats what i think.
