Well in my day (1976-1997) recruit training in the Permanent Defence Forces of Ireland, took 16 weeks in Athlone, Co.Westmeath,. . . it depends on what area you train in, after our passing out parade, we were trucked to Finner Camp, Co. Donegal, after 3 weeks we were allowed to apply for a long weekend pass, that was from Friday 12:30 hrs till 23.59 hrs on Sunday night.

We used to get 24 days Annual holiday per year besides Easter & Christmas etc..etc..

Then we had to do the 3 Star Course which is the next step in basic Infantry training.

I hope the info is of some use to you.
